Re: WTF Wednesday Dec 16

  • My boss is bipolar.  I can be on his absolute good side one day and the next he's getting on me about something.  The latest is that I asked for meetings to not be scheduled over 11:30-12:30 - short story is that I get lunch for by my husband and I since we work at the same campus, he's very limited with his schedule and has to take lunch at 12 - it takes time to walk down to our cafeteria, wait in line, get back to give him lunch - most of our engineers take from 12-1, so not too big of a deal.  But apparently that 30 minutes is a big enough of a deal that he's getting frustrated that none of his engineers have good availability anymore.

WTF people who come into the office after having stomach bug issues and announce at meetings that less than 12 hours ago, they were puking their brains out.

  • WTF H you are a smart man and should understand that the OBs advice and opinions should be listened to over the ultrasound tech. Just because you go to those appointments doesn't mean we should listen to her over our doctor.

Also, WTF guy at the lab. There are at least 20 other seats available why would you decide to sit directly next to the pregnant lady when you have a hacking cough.
  • Wtf legs! Dear God! I was just brought down to my hand and needs by severe leg cramps. I've had leg cramps before but these brought me to my knees. They wouldn't go away and they made me want to go pee so I had to crawl to the bathroom before I peed myself. I've been drinking water. Tons of it. Had eaten 2 bananas an hour ago. What the hay is your problem?!

If you can stomach it, mustard is also a quick solution to cramps!
  • @MrsPittman13 thanks! I'll give that a try.

Oh my goodness, I'd rather have the cramps.  I hate mustard.  Perhaps that is an unpopular opinion ha ha.

WTF Husband please finish painting the nursery and don't give me crap about how your parents picked Yellow Wall as the theme for your nursery and you think I'm going overboard.  Poo on you!!

  • Anyone have kids already and are working?  Do you ever feel pressure - whether unspoken or not - to be the default parent and go to everything.  And then get unspoken flack/pressure from work because you're the one to do everything - doctor's appointments, school programs, etc.?  Maybe it's a WTF for this pressure but I'm feeling the major pull right now.  And it makes me tired.

  • WTF DH. We agreed one girl, one boy and we are done. NOW he has brought it up that he wants a third child. UM NO! No no no no no....! I seriously hope that after this baby comes and he realizes how much life is going ot change and that he will have to play a bigger part in taking care of our DD while i have DS, it changes his mind.

  • Wtf brother and SIL? We are having dinner at 6:30 tonight. I get that you have a 3 month old and adjusting as first time parents is a big deal...but you'll "try" to make it on time to dinner?! I call BS.

My brother has taken off work the remainder of the year until they put their child in daycare, and his wife gets off work at 3:30. Wtf? I won't get home till probably 5:45 from work and neither will my husband, but we won't be late getting to my mom's house.

I'm tired. I'm uncomfortable. I'm super hormonal. I have horrible acid reflux. I hate chronic lateness and dumb excuses. Get your shit together! You two are 31 damn years old! Ugh!

Eurgh. A colleague came to work today obviously feeling like shit from a stomach bug and left early. Why did she have to come in at all? Gross!!

  • WTF apartment complex! Who the f*** turns the water off in the building at 5 AM to do maintenance?! That is my shower time, and we have military people in the complex too, so I know they are up and getting ready for work! I had to wash up at work so I didn't smell offensive (to me) and my hair didn't get washed.
  • @kfarr26 I just had to smile a little as this reminded me about how much my perspective on time and planning on how to be on time changed after I got DS and some hard learned lessons for why more time was needed in order to get somewhere on time! And now I can't fathom what i used all of my time on before baby?!? I would guess that your brother means "try" to as in we plan to be on time, but hope that our 3month old baby doesn't change his/her sleeping/eating schedule too much, that your SIL won't need too much time to nurse or pump after work (if she bf's), that baby won't have a diaper-blow-out when we're about to go out the door and/or pee/poop all over one of us while changing diapers so one of us needs to shower and change clothes again (this is always funny and seems to happen mostly when you have little time) and things like that...

WTF nauseous! Don't you dear come back!! I'm so over you!!
  • WTF who decided it was a good idea to drive 13 straight hours today?! Oh my husband. Except I drove 10 of the hours >.>
  • WTF teenagers... Apparently the new trend in our town is to write bomb threats on the bathroom walls at school... We have had 11 lockdowns (in mid schools and high schools) in one week in our town. And we have to take every single one of them seriously because you really never do know. Since it is not just one student at one school, now we have a new district policy that says all students must be escorted to the restroom.

I have 20 6 year olds and not another adult to help escort their tiny bladders to the restroom... So it's either take the whole class, or have the teacher next door watch my class while I walk down the long hall for the millionth time.

And then after I'm done being annoyed... I feel like WTF world... How is it okay that teenagers now think it's a game to write such things on the walls.
  • @jlavo888 our area had a rash of bomb threats this past year (they'd never had one before I guess, but we used to get them all the time whenever a kid didn't want to take a test or something - usually phoned in lol).  The first one in the area was a kid who left a note in the bathroom at one of my schools, but rumor got out that he had written it on the bathroom wall, so then every area school suddenly had bomb threats written on their bathroom walls.  Such a small miscommunication seemed very funny to me (although the subject material is obviously something to take seriously).

That new policy does stink though.

WTF, DH? I do not have "intimacy issues"...he reads that many women have an increased libido in their 2nd trimester, looks at me and says "I should be so lucky. You must have intimacy issues." Well, guess what? It's not always about you!! That comment shut that door for you tonight, buddy!!
Oh DH DH DH.  No no no no no.

  • @Synnovus I'm not talking late every now and then. Chronic lateness. The kind that lets you know that your time is not nearly as important as theirs. Kids become the convenient excuse, of course, but when the behavior existed long before kids came into the picture? Please.

To their credit, they managed to make it on time. They usually aren't the worst offenders of the family, though. That award goes to my husband's siblings. My husband and I are literally the only ones on either side that anyone can count on to be on time for anything. I just find it horribly rude to always expect others to wait until you're good and ready to grace them with your presence. Not cool.
  • @kfarr26 chronic lateness is def different than just adjusting to the need of a new time schedule and more planning ahead when going somewhere...out of curiosity are they doing better/the same or worse after becoming parents?

Really about the same for both sides. One sibling set on my husband's side doesn't have kids yet. Lord help us all when they do!

With my brother and his wife, I really feel like it's a combo of my brother being suuuuper laid back, and his wife - though I love her to death - being a bit overly self involved. Example, my neice's christening recently. SIL didn't plan it till super last minute fully knowing that her grandparents were flying in specifically to be a part of the event. She also didn't plan any sort of reception so her mom and dad stepped up last minute and hosted dinner afterward at a restaurant close to the church. My SIL also planned it for the one day her mom had asked her not to plan it on.

My husband's brother and wife, though, I really think it's more about control. They want things to go their way on their time. They've insisted a number of times on events being held at inconvenient times for everyone else to accommodate their kids' schedules, but then cancel last minute while everyone's waiting on them to show up. It's ridiculous.
