Funny moment at OB

This happened on Monday, and it's still making me laugh days later. So I'm going to go ahead and share it:

I was leaving my OB's office after my appointment, as another couple was walking in. She was visibly pregnant, and he was a carrying some sort of pillow with a little white dog on it. I kinda stopped and stared for a moment. The receptionist got an alarmed look on her face, and asked the man if his dog was a "service dog."
He replied, "No, we brought her with us to SEE MY WIFE'S ULTRSOUND!"

Lol, I continued on my way out, but would have loved to stay to find out happened next!

Re: Funny moment at OB

  • I laughed out loud to this. Any woman who carries a dog on a pillow is clearly nuts IMO! Probably for the best she is having an actual baby.....
  • Loading the player...
  • It takes all kinds....
  • Some people... I swear. Lol
  • aBahahaaaa.   Did they allow the dog in?

  • Haha! The fact that the dog being carried on a pillow isn't the funniest part of this story is the best. Good lord.
  • As if the dog gives two hoots...some people have zero touch with reality. Wow! You sure the office wasn't being punked? Haha!
  • Do you go to the same OB as Paris Hilton?

And I really hope that guy felt like a moron having to carry a tiny dog on a pillow.

  • That sounds too legit to be a prank. Gah that's hysterical.
  • Really?! ON A PILLOW?! What happened to purse dogs? Have they been bumped up to pillows now?
  • Wow.  My 14 month old has seen the baby on ultrasound twice and has no freaking clue what is happening.  What could a dog possibly get from it?

I would love to know... I should call the office up and say I want to bring my dog along for an ultrasound, just to see what they say.

  • Lol. That's hilarious.
  • HAHA. And I was unsure of whether to take our son......

  • @crdo I'm with you. BOTH of them have lost touch with reality. Seriously?!?!

  • Wow...we "showed" the ultrasound pictures to our dog (he sniffed them and walked away for those who were curious) but that was more for the photo of us "telling" him what was going to happen because DH's mom wanted to know if we told the dog yet. Bringing the dog to a doctors appointment is a whole nother ball game....
  • Ugh. That poor pampered dog is in for a shock when they suddenly have a real baby to take care of.

  • Well I feel so silly now. I only took my husband and daughter. Next time I will take the dog and the cat!!! Wow, people are crazy! Thanks for the laugh!!
  • Maybe I should take my cats to my anatomy scan. My 2 year old didn't care about seeing my NT scan (we only took him for logistical reasons) but the cats will definitely be into it. I just need to order a couple silk pillows on Amazon first.

  • Okay, am I the only one that was confused by this?  I feel so blond/dumb right now.  I thought you meant the dog was sewn or stitched on the pillow not an ACTUAL living dog!  That's insane!

I thought the same thing at first, I had to re-read lol.

  • Hahahahaha! This is amazing! Our dogs are between 80 and 90 lbs each! Wouldn't be quite the same effect trying to get those bad boys carried in on a pillow! Ha!

I feel like you could each wear one in an Ergo or something. You totally wouldn't get the side eye for that. ;)
  • @nicolesmith0624 that's awesome! I would have loved to see that at my OB office personally... But our office has a very strict NO CHILDREN under the age of 12 policy in place... I can't imagine them keeping an appointment for someone carrying in a "dog"!

An OBGYN has that rule?? Seems a little rigid...lots of stay at home moms don't have a choice but to bring their kids with them. Crazy!

  • I'll just leave this here.
  • @Bear14+ Yes... They "say" it's about the safety of the environment not having children running around. They also attribute it to moms not being able to actually listen to what's happening with them or baby with distractions of little ones with them, so it actually increases patient care (which I don't disagree with). There is a daycare center on the first floor of the building for patients. I don't have other kids so I don't know how it works but I assume you would sign up beforehand so they had your child's information before you had any appointments and needed to leave your kid there for an hour or so? My guess. *shrug* lol

@adiaz132003 I love that pic!!! Hahaha!
