WTF Wednesday

edited December 2015 in May 2016 Moms
What's your WTF Wednesday? I saw no one else started it yet so I figured I would.

My WTF is my neck. I've had problems with it for years. It's hurt every day since Sunday. Thankfully the pain went away while I was working out tonight, so hopefully it stays away. It sucks because there is nothing I can take for it, I have tramadol which isn't safe to take during pregnancy. Thankfully I rarely need it but it has been flaring up terrible lately. :/

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • WTF to the man I found snooping around on my property early this morning and ACTUALLY trying to steal stuff. I told him he was on private property and he replied with "I'm just cutting through." Then I pointed to my signs stating- Private Property No Trespassing. He decided to argue with me and yell at me saying I stole his 3-wheeler. At first I wasn't intimidated because I had noticed that he was on crutches... while we were arguing he threw the crutches which I then realized he pulled from my shed and he was able to walk perfectly fine. Ok, then I was scared. He ended up leaving to a house down the road and at that point I called the cops who never even freaking showed up. I told them that I caught this guy mid-robbery while I had my kids with me and that he seemed to be on drugs (the house he went to is known for dealing drugs) and that he was just down the street. The police called me back 2 hours later to take my statement over the phone and laughed it off saying that this guy was probably having a bad day and hopefully I don't see him again. Really?? He was going through my cars and shed and other things that I have. UGH.

  • @thismakes4 What the hell?! That's scary and the fact they did nothing about it is unacceptable. He was robbing you and yelled at you, that not funny. Police never want to be around when you actually need them. Ugh. What if he doesn't something like that again and it's worse next time?!

Most of those are ridiculous but the deer has been hit one...that's the number we're actually told to call around here even if there is no human injury.

All we really have is county sheriffs as there are few towns big enough for their own police department. No idea. It's just what we all are taught from when we first start driving.

  • WTF to my sudden body asymmetry. I still haven't gained any weight this pregnancy (at 17 weeks). A while back I noticed my right boob was getting bigger but not my left. Last week I was zipping up my riding boots and realized my left calf is much smaller than before while my right one is the same. Tonight I just noticed my left cheek bone is all pronounced while the right side of my face looks rather plump. So, wtf?

Interesting. Who do you say we are supposed to call then? My DH hit a deer about a month ago and didn't even know which county he was in. His guess was wrong based on which sheriff showed up.

  • I usually don't do many of the WTFW or TWT or posts like that but man I am in a really crappy mood today!

WTF to my annoying neighbors! I seriously thought there were about 8 or 9 people outside there was just so much noise. Turns out it was just two very loud, obnoxious, drunk ladies next door. Its not even 4pm and these ladies are hammered! Ok, I sound judgy . . . Yes there are reasons to have some drinks mid day but these two chicks are always drunk. It's a mother and daughter and they have a 2-3 year old that lives there as well. WTF! Go away! I can't wait to move next year.

Also @thismakes4 That sounds really creepy and scary. I'd be so mad at the police for not taking it seriously.  :(

The batteries in my father in law's smoke detectors were low and the detectors were beeping.  He physically cannot climb a ladder to change them.  He called DH in the middle of the night and asked DH if he were to call 911 if they would send the fire dept out to change the batteries for him.  Thankfully he asked DH that before he did it.  DH told him a big fat NO

Edit:  Forgot to add.  Once at one of my old jobs we had a lady come in that tried to scam the cashier on duty by claiming she did not give her change back.  The drawer was counted and was not over and was not short.  The lady argued and called 911.  Eventually mall security got in on it.  And then a police officer showed up.

I should have figured when I called that they weren't coming out because someone has to be shot/killed for them to make an appearance.

  • My WTF is me.  DH and I were discussing Christmas shopping for one another.  I'm finished with his (like weeks ago) and he hasn't really even started on mine (aside from the stuff I bought with his card).  He was wanting an idea of how much I had spent on him.  So I started trying to figure up what I had got him.  I had calculated before so I knew my number was way off from what it should be.  I forgot what I had bought my own husband for Christmas........ Sad thing is I let him pick out most of it so he helped me figure it out.  Like WTF?!?!?!

Second WTF goes to the baby growing inside of me.  Last week they could not find the  baby's heartbeat on the doppler!  They brought another nurse in to try. She could not find it either.  Then they brought a doctor in to try to find it.  He could not find it either.  By then I was ugly crying (having already lost one, you can see where I"m coming from).  They had to hook up the ultrasound to find the baby's heartbeat.  Heartbeat was/is healthy.  Baby was just wiggling around so much and would not stay still long enough for the doppler to pick it up.   Then I had another appointment today.  Baby did the same thing.  This time I was trying to get  a recording of the heartbeat to put in a heartbeat buddy.  Eventually the ultrasound tech had to do it and it took her 20 minutes to get a decent heartbeat to record b/c the baby wouldn't stop moving.  I"m guessin I"m in trouble once I can start to feel the baby move.  I'm gonna get beat up from the inside lol

I'm sure he wouldn't get fined if he called 911 but in situations that aren't emergency we encourage people to use their smart phones to locate where they are, look around at landmarks around them, call the last city/county they were in (non emergency).

People will call for all kinds of things and we still go but I don't think the people calling realize bc the officer/ems/fire is with them that someone having an emergency is either going to have to wait or not be able to get through on the line bc of them. It's frustrating bc then you see us on the news with "911 not answering phones" etc when it's just weeding through calls we're getting that a lot of the time not emergency.

  • @doozer1345 Wow. I can't believe people actually call for some of that stuff! When I see a reckless driver I try to look up what county I'm in (if I'm not driving) and call the correct police station. I have dialed 911 before though, when I was driving and couldn't look it up. Oops. :x

So what do you tell people that don't have smartphones, like my DH? Or travel where there is no data service, like most of the places around here? I'm not arguing, just curious, as we are taught from driver's ed on up that any accident, injury or not, we call 911.

Call 411 to get the number of the last county/city they were in. My point was just that people don't realize when they call 911 they are taking the line up to where people who have an actual emergency can not get through. On the news you hear about police/ems/fire extended response times being so long and it's an outrage...But what they don't realize is a lot of the time we are having to pull from different areas that aren't close bc the ones that are are having to deal with sometimes non emergencies.
