Anxiety for upcoming appointment

Hello all! I'm a FTM and my hubs and I are SO excited for our sweet little babe! I go in for my 12 week appointment Wednesday and am SO nervous. Just anxious to get out of 1st trimester. I have no real reason to be anxious or worried. I'm very healthy and have had a fairly good 1st trimester. Is thus just normal mom worry? I feel nuts

Re: Anxiety for upcoming appointment

  • Perfectly normal.  I'm not sure the worry ever goes away but I'm a FTM as well.  I would imagine when the baby starts kicking that will be reassuring.

  • Right there with you. It's hard before you can feel them kick. Once they're moving around and big enough to feel, everything gets much more reassuring! I'm headed out the door to my nuchal screen right now and equally anxious -- so at least for me, nothing has changed since the first time!

  • I'm a FTM too and I can't wait to start feeling movement! I also have a Doppler that I use to check in on baby sometimes (probably too much, it's so damn comforting!) but some don't like them because baby's not always easy to find and which can cause anxiety.

  • I'm soo anxious for next Wednesday and I'm an STM. Mine is just to hear the hb but every apt makes me super anxious.
  • Definitely not nuts! I don't think the worry every really goes away but the 12 week check up is a big one. Let us know how it goes!
  • Agreed, every appointment makes me nervous! Looking forward to my 14 week in another week and a half to hear heartbeat and then in January finally getting to see baby again for Anatomy scan!
  • @June2016BabyW I have my 14 wk apt in the 22nd. What date is yours?

@nursecait my vote: perfectly normal to be worried. Especially in the first trimester.
  • It's normal to worry. It's probably a lot more unusual NOT to worry.

I'm worried about my appointment on Monday where I get my Harmony results. It's driving me crazy.
  • The worry never really goes. Even when you can feel them move, you'll find yourself suddenly panicking because you can't remember when you felt them move last... I used to lie down and push on my belly to try to poke her to get her to move. Lol. And then they're born and a whole new set of worries start.
  • Agree with everyone else. The worry never really stops. :) I'm a STM and have been much more worried with this pregnancy for some reason. Had my 12w scan on Thursday. Everything was fine (had some scares at the beginning that constantly put me on edge). Hope the scan went well for you.

  • @newtonyounger1 I agree!! Things have been a lot more worrying the second time around. I also had issues early on that made me nervous. And maybe it's because I realize now just what the end product is, it just seems like I'm a lititle more invested this time.
  • @HBamama2B my 14 week appointment is on the 23rd!!
  • I feel yeah. I'm 13w3d and I have my NT u/s on Wednesday. SUPER nervous.
  • So happy someone asked this question. I am a FTM as well I'm at 12w4d and I don't feel anything so my mind starts to think all kinds of things. We had an U/s at 8 weeks and there was a hb but I'm still nervous because I don't see a bump or feel anything. We have our 12 week visit on Wednesday as well hopefully they do another U/s at the same time so I can relax for a couple days...lol
  • I'm a FTM & was SO nervous for my NT scan (just had it on Friday). I was trying to think positively, but it was so hard not to worry. I think that's probably natural. I feel much better now having seen my LO moving all about on Friday, but I'm sure I will continue to worry until I can feel him/her moving around.

  • Lyette1206 Totally! Having issues at the beginning don't make the rest of the 1st tri ANY EASIER. But if you aren't worried during pregnancy, you're worried when they arrive, lol. It never truly ends, I don't think.

  • After 12 week and/or NT scan is when I begin to calm down. I had mine last week, and it really eases the anxiety. Same happened last pregnancy. Good luck!

  • Same.  I thought the worry would go away after the first appointment and then after a good NT scan but nope, here I am, still worried that everything is ok.
