Help for baby girl name

Hi all - Long time lurker here and I'm needing some suggestions for girl names!. DH and I are expecting baby #2 in April. DS is Liam.

So first we have names that we both agree on, but aren't too sure about using for various reasons:

Lily - we both love Lily, but I really don't want to do another L name. We are planning to have a 3rd in which I would probably consider Lily at that time
Charlotte - not sure on this one anymore just because of the royal baby plus an old classmate who lives in our same town just named her daughter this and kinda ruined the name for us

Okay, now other names we like:

Amelia
Isla - (sister is a teacher and said she worries no one will pronounce correctly)
Penelope - (DH isn't quite on board with this one, but I still keep it on my list because I love it)
Eloise - (I texted this one to DH and he didn't even know how to pronounce it so that may not work haha)

Any input on our current names? Or other similar name suggestions you could give? TIA!

Re: Help for baby girl name

  • I like Eloise the best. I think most people know how to pronounce it but maybe I'm wrong! What about Louise or Louisa if H can't get on board with Eloise?
  • Loading the player...
  • I love Amelia! It's on our short list. Isla is beautiful but I do think she may get call Is-la instead of eye-la from time to time.

Do you have a middle name so we can get a better idea of flow?

    DD Born 6/23/16
    Baby #2 Due 3/7/20
  • I love Isla. I think as it becomes more common pronounciation won't be a problem. Amelia is my 2nd favorite. Suggest Audrey. Just seems like your style.
  • We haven't settled on middle names yet. We usually like to honor family in this spot so the names we have discussed so far are:

Elizabeth (my MN.. also my sister's MN)
Marie or Helen (my late grandmothers first names)
Renae (DH has 2 sisters who both have this for their MN)

  • Before I read your entire post the name Molly came to mind. Liam and Molly. My DD is named Eloise and we love it. She gets so many compliments. Maybe your DH will warm up to it? That would be my first choice from your list.
  • Ideas from name matchmaker using Isla, Eloise & Charlotte
    Camille
    Genevieve
    Noelle
    Tamsin
    Thea
    Felicity
    Stasia
    Natalie
    Margot
    Gabriella
  • I love Amelia! My DH and I are also having a girl and having trouble coming up with names for her! Some of our names are

    Ava
    Danielle
    Madison
    Kylie

    Daisypath - nBGk

    Lilypie - GQnA

  • I'm surprised that your H thinks Eloise is hard to pronounce but likes Isla. I agree that w/ pps that Amelia would fit well.

    Also suggest

    Abigail
    Corinne
    Irene
    Helen
    Patricia
    Susan
    Willa
  • I love Isla

  • I like Eloise the best from your list. Lily and Charlotte are pretty but so overused. Maybe:

    Helena
    Eliza
    Violet
    Bridget
    Juliet
    Daphne
    Calista
    Alexandra
    Gwendolyn
  • I really like Amelia best. It pairs nicely with all of your potential middle names... I like either Marie or Helen to honor one of your grandmothers.

    Eloise is also very pretty.

Isla is pretty but extremely popular right now. I feel like she'll have several in her class.

Penelope is nms and also extremely popular.
