I recently learned that I'm pregnant for the 2nd time. My first child is 8, everything would be fantastic, except I just got admitted to an MBA school and working full time. Anyone else is doing or has done it? I'm going to need some advises :)

Re: Anyone else doing MBA and working while being pregnant ?

  • I'm not doing an MBA but I'm doing my MSN for Nurse Practitioning and continuing to work full time pregnant with my first. We can do it ! We can be supportive together

  • I'm not doing an MBA but I'm finishing up my Ph.D. program and I've found it difficult to find the energy to work on my dissertation. I think it just takes being really creative and finding time to get stuff done. I don't have any other advise but I'm looking forward to what others may suggest.

I'm working on my lowly BA but I've been hacking away at it since 2013. It may take longer but I'll get there!

  • Well first off congrats!!! I actually was completing my MBA during my last pregnancy, I had my DD over a one week break between classes and then started my capstone course a few days after giving birth and throughout my maternity leave.  Now I took online classes when I was super pregnant and on mat leave so if you can do that I'd recommend it.

Other things that helped me stay sane... I would do classwork when the baby was up so if that was 2am so be it!  I also read while feeding the baby and would just nap when she napped.  YOU CAN DO IT! its hard believe me but you get into a rhythm and just somehow get it all done!

  • Oh yes and I worked Full time during all this too :)  Before I had my DD I would do my classwork over lunches, while cooking dinner, basically any time I could find!

  • I worked full-time and finished my masters when pregnant with #1. You can totally do it while pregnant, no issues. You'll be tired and need naps during first and third trimesters so evening classes will be challenging but you can do it. I have no advice about post-pregnancy with a newborn because I literally finished my masters the week before my son was born. I'm ETERNALLY grateful that it worked out that way. Had we gotten pregnant earlier like we had initially planned, it would have been very challenging for me to finish my masters while on maternity leave with a newborn. Since you'll be due in the summer, I highly recommend taking advantage of that time and taking no classes. I would honestly even consider taking a leave of absence for that first semester until you get in the hand of things working full-time with a baby after your maternity leave ends. Picking back up in January would be the best of all worlds in my opinion.

  • Hi maldonadokar

I am in the final steps of submitting my MBA application for this upcoming Fall. If all goes well and I am admitted, I will have a 6 week old and starting school with a full time job. The only thing that I have changed about my MBA is that I am applying to the weekend program instead of the evening program, therefore my DH will be home with the baby on Saturday and we will not have to rely on babysitters since my husband works nights as a police officer.
  • Working on my masters here.
    Thank God for Raid.

  • Me, too! I timed it so that I won't go into labor until after graduation. I didn't work this hard to miss my ceremony lol I'll graduate this coming April! I work full-time and go to school full-time. Graduate classes are held at night and that's when I get the most nausea so I'm hoping for the best. I have the same professor next semester, she's going to be surprised when she sees my belly when I get back from winter break! My advice is don't fall behind in school work. That's going to stress you out and cause unnecessary problems.
  • I found the time in between sickness today to finish my data analysis for my dissertation! We can do it!
  • Not an MBA, but I am in a masters program for urban sociology + working full time. Like you, I am wondering how it's all going to get done.
  • I worked on my MA in Teaching while working full time when I was pregnant with my son. :)  It wasn't a picnic, especially when he was little, but I got through it!

  • Working on my BS, and in school full time and I work part time. My work is very demanding and I might have to leave soon. I am tired all the time! I am a Registered Behavior Technician for work and I work with young children who have Autism and a few of my clients hit, pinch, punch, scratch, bite and full on run at me trying to aggress towards me, some I have to even pick up who weigh over 50lbs. It's not easy so not sure how much longer I will be able to stay and the further along I get the slower I will become and those kiddos will land more of those kicks and bites on me lol So having to possibly leave work is definitely stressing me out, even more than handling school and work while pregnant. I love my clients and will miss them so much!
