Second Hand Bassinet

Hey Moms!!

I was given a second hand bassinet for our daughter and was hoping someone may have some tips/ideas for cleaning/disinfecting it?

I saw an awesome video not to long ago about cleaning/disinfecting pack-n-plays in the bathtub, but this bassinet is a different shape and size...plus I don't think all of the fabric is removable so am in a bit of a bind for how to go about getting it clean and ready for her arrival.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :-)

  • Can you post a few pictures? It's hard to know how to go about cleaning the parts that aren't removable without seeing it. What type of fabric are the parts that you can't remove?

  • I recommend that if any of the fabric is removable, obviously machine wash that. For anything else, spot clean any obvious stains with OxiClean Baby Stain Remover. Finally you can run a steamer over the rest to make sure it's disinfected and ready for baby. I would use distilled water in the steamer just because I'm a stickler like that.

  • @MississippiCatfish yes, sorry I was at work when I posted. This is the best pic I could get. The mattress is foam so I was going to clean that in the bathtub but am unsure how to clean the rest of it. She won't really be touching that part but since it's used I'd like to freshen it up
