DE retrieval yesterday....very nervous

Hi ladies, I'm here to tell someone that I'm a nervous wreck and just 'let it out.' Yesterday our DE had her retrieval and there were 11 eggs.....9 were matured to be ICSIed and today 5 have fertilized normally. I'm really nervous that only 5 is left and it hasn't been Day 3 yet. Like most of us on this forum, this is all our money and savings going into this process to make our dreams come true. My DH and nurse are telling me I shouldn't worry and stress about it but I just can't help it. Anyone went down this path before? Thanks for reading and listening.

No experience with this, but I can understand the worry. It is so tough when through each step you can lose more embies...hopefully the 5 are strong and you can have a few tries (if needed!)

Similar situation happened to me on my fresh cycle. 7 mature, only 4 fertilized. I was so nervous about it, I pushed for putting 2 in at day 3 instead of waiting until day 5. In the end, the other two made it to day 5 so I wish I had of waited as its likely they all would have. I don't want to set you up for a positive outcome in case as you never do know, but I do feel like very often if they fertilize and are expanding then you shouldn't have too much to worry about. Ultimately it only takes 1 good one but I totally relate to the stress you're feeling. Big hugs!! Best of luck to you. Keep us posted @plumeria05 !!!

Thank you @oxinfree I feel a lot better that someone else has been in my shoes. That's what my coordinator keeps telling me......that I only need a good one. May I ask the outcome of the two you put in? I'm so nervous & pre occupied that I forgot all about Christmas next week lol Big hugs to you too.

Haha. I know @plumeria05... the holidays are sneaking up so fast!!!

I have yet to get pregnant, so unfortunately, putting 2 back in on day 3 was not successful for me. We also had a VERY difficult transfer (blood and all) so there were a multitude of factors working against us there...

Then the frozen cycle, we transferred the other 2 frozen day 5 blasts, and had an easy transfer, but still a negative outcome. Afraid my particular situation isn't shedding any light for you. I took a very long break after that second go. We're undergoing more testing now about lining issues etc hoping to find out why I can't seem to conceive.

Oh I'm sorry @oxinfree. How was your lining before both transfers? They check mine every week. I hope they can find out the problem so that your next cycle will be successful. I'm still glad you shared - made me realize I'm not crazy with the waiting period. Today was Day 3 and my coordinator didn't call with a report. Not sure if that's good news or not so good and I didn't call her either because I kinda didn't wanna know. I mean...... I want to but then I dont want to (in case). Know what I mean? Lol

It wasn't great either time @plumeria05 - we're doing a biopsy before proceeding again. I may also do intralipids.

I do know what you mean with the waiting haha. I'm assuming they'll let you know when they have a certain idea. Probably good news... fingers crossed!!! Keep us posted!

So today I got my Day 3 report and I'm really stressed about it (sigh). Out of the 5 that fertilized, only 3 have 6 & cells growth. I was really hoping for a higher #. I called my dr today and told them I want an early transfer and don't want the PGS anymore. I want to try and salvage of what little I have left. I'm disappointed that the DE didn't produce a lot of healthy eggs. I mean from 11 down to 3??? It's a pretty low #.

I'm so so sorry @plumeria . I can imagine you're feeling quite down. Sometimes an early transfer isn't ideal, as your lining isn't ready yet, but at the same time, I totally completely understand! As I said... I've been exactly there and made the exact same decision. Whatever your gut is telling you to do, just do! Ugh. I'm heartbroken for you. Big big BIG hugs.

@oxinfree - thank you so much for your support and love. I was crying all day (I know it doesn't help). I talked with my dr and we're set for Day 5 transfer which is this Thursday. He actually didn't recommend PGS which was why we were gonna transfer on Day 6. Last week I had my last ultrasound and they said the lining was ready. Now I just hope the embryos will make it. @plumeria05 - absolutely! I'm so sorry it was such an emotional day for you. I really mean it when I say I get it! My doc also doesn't necessarily recommend PGS, but told me we could if I really wanted and I'm torn. He explained that sometimes its hard to tell if one of the lesser "normal" embryos would develop fine... I dunno. I've done some reading and want to do more. I think my biggest concern is damage to the embryos. I dunno. Blegh. There is so much to consider when going through IVF, it would be nice if there was ONE right answer. Unfortunately... its a matter of opinion and preference. Glad to hear your lining is ready. Day 5 is also quite a common transfer day, so I'm hopeful for you!!! Keep thinking positively hun... wishing for sticky beans for you! fx
