Babies will grow at their own pace after entering the second trimester. It's normal, and most are either +/- up to about a week, and different parts of them may measure at different weeks along. Your baby may have just gone through a growth spurt. If you did not have an ultrasound in the first trimester to establish a more accurate due date, then it may just be that you ovulated and concieved earlier than what your EDD based on your period said that you did.
My EDD with DS1 was 7/12/14 At his 1st tri ultrasound, he measured at an EDD of 7/15/14. At the a/s, he measured at an EDD of 7/5/14. He was born 7/9/14 and was under 7 lbs. my doctor never changed my due date from my original EDD.
This time around, DS2's original EDD was 4/10/15. U/S changed it to 4/18/15. A/S measures him with a new EDD of 4/14/15, but no actual change to my newer due date. Most doctors won't change your due date unless baby is measuring +/- 7-10 days from EDD. It also depends on the doctor.
You'll know more once you get closer to the due date if your baby continues to be on the big side and if your doctor thinks your baby should come out sooner than your due date.
It is based off of my LMP which my due date is 4/30/2016 he is only measuring one day ahead
You could have ovulated a day earlier than "normal," which would change how far along you are, or baby is just growing a little bit faster right now than what is predicted for GA.
Agreed with what others have said. With DD I either measure spot on or behind. No one was worried and she came 9 days late.
With LO I figure I had to ovulate early because I had no problem charting to avoid in the past. My edd based off of my LMP is 4/19 but at my a/s LO was measuring at 4/12. We didn't adjust the due date yet and may not. I get an extra ultrasound out of the deal but not until around 35 weeks to see if she is still measuring on the big side.
Our baby boy has been measuring a week ahead since 8wks. Im 21+3 right now. The doc wont change the date but shes not worried. Glad hes big growing big and strong. I had my AS yesterday and the tech onlt measured him about 2-3 days ahead. Either way in happy is doing well.
It may even out, or you could just have a little bit bigger baby. I always measured 2 weeks ahead with DS so I was hoping he'd come a little earlier than his due date. But I had to be induced on my due date for high blood pressure, and it turned out he was 9lb 3oz and 22.25"...he just didn't want to come out!
I've been measuring at least a week ahead or more from the first U/S in July. They've changed my due date for times because of it. I'm going with the most recent one, but I really don't hold as much stock in U/S science for EDD. LO will come when LO is ready.

The only u/s that I kind of trust is the one in the first trimester, but only if it's done before 13 weeks. They were 100% spot on for conception date this time around, since that was the only possible date it could have happened. I can't be too sure with DS1.
I really just use EDD to figure out my 5 week window so I know around when to have the car seat put in the car, for work to know I may go into labor, to have my bag packed and ready in the car, and to make sure my birth plan is in order. Five weeks is a large time frame of possibility.
I was measuring ahead towards the end of my pregnancy for a couple weeks... and my baby was a week late and 7 lbs 4 oz. So it likely is nothing. If you're consistently measuring way ahead, your doctors may look into it further.. but all babies grow at different rates, so it's really not a big deal and some variance is to be expected.

This is sad...I measured two weeks ahead at my appointment yesterday and was really crossing my fingers that it'd mean *slightly* less time pregnant. Baby can cook as long as she needs, but if she's ready to come at 38 weeks I won't be upset.

Even if they measure ahead, they may be stinkers and wait an extra two weeks. I know a few people who were very large and 3 weeks late!

Ahhh stop!!!
I also know a few people who were big babies and two weeks early!
I was one of those rare babies that showed up on my EDD. Funny enough, DS1 had the same birth weight as I did!
I'm super late to this but I thought I would contribute.... I measure right on early on (I know my exact O date because of fertility treatments) but at my 20 week ultrasound I technically measured 24-25 weeks. It was completely because of the femur measurement. My husband is 6'4" and has super long legs. My DD was the same way (she is 3 and as tall as a 5 or 6 year old now). They take the average of all the measurements once they get bigger. I went at 37 weeks last time and my doctor thinks I will do the same again since this one is going to be tall too. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless your doctor says something.
