Introducing Formula

My LO is 7 weeks old now and I've been EBF so far. Over the holidays we will be out of town (with the baby), and there will be times when I won't be able to breastfeed. I have been pumping to build up a supply, but I don't have very much so far. I'm thinking of bringing formula along too just in case. Has anyone given just an occasional bottle of formula? Not sure if I should introduce it now for her to get used to? Any advice would be appreciated!

    I haven't done this but if I were in your position I wouldn't introduce it until it was needed. I have a sample of the gerber supplementing formula and that's what I'd use in the event of running out of my stash and needing to feed without breastfeeding

    I've had to give formula twice now. Baby didn't seem to mind but prefers breastmilk.

    I've starting introducing just a little bit of formula. I have a hard time pumping much at all, both because I get only 1/2 to 1 oz at a time and also because my LO will hardly let me put her down so I have no chance to pump!

    Yet I still need some freedom! So we introduced Similac for Supplementation (recommended by our pediatrician). She's had 3 bottles over the last couple of weeks. She isn't crazy about it but will drink it with encouragement. I'm not sure if she doesn't like the formula or if it's the bottle itself she has a problem with. But I'm going to keep up the occasional bottle because we need to have another option besides me never, ever going anywhere.

    We started him on one formula bottle a day at 2 weeks old. I have some medical issues that made me worry I may not to continue to Bf. We wanted to get him used to formula and make sure we found one that worked for him. We use Enfamil Newborn, which I like because the main ingredient isn't corn syrup. We also tried similar for Supplementation, but he didn't like that one so much.

    We've used formula twice! My pediatrician said its fine as long as breast feeding is going well. Pumping has been difficult for me and it's so nice to have some freedom with the formula. I have a hair appointment tomorrow so he'll get a bottle while he's with my mom!
