tiny socks

My baby shower was Saturday.  It was so much fun, and everyone was amazingly generous!  I was shocked.  When I was organizing last night I realized that the one thing I think i really need to still get is socks for the baby when he is tiny.  Does anyone have a recommendation for brands that tend to stay on well and look cute?  I foresee a lot of little missing socks in my future!

  • One thing I've seen for keeping tiny socks not lost is using a snap to hold them together. You can buy tools (fairly cheaply) to put the same snaps that are on onesies onto other things. I'm going to do one or two pair to start and see if it bugs baby at all before commiting to all the socks but then I can snap them together and hopefully not lose them to the dryer gods.

But OH MY they are so cute and little :D

I can't recommend a brand (ftm here!) but I can recommend getting a small lingerie bag to wash the socks in to prevent losing so many! Of course that's if the socks stay on long enough to make it back home lol Edited to add: washing/drying the socks in the bag helps to keep them from getting eaten by the drying
great idea. . . . didn't even think of that!

  • I don't think there really is any brand that is better than another. I try not to spend a fortune on them just because those little tootsies grow so fast! Also, sometimes it's worth it to buy multiple packs of the same sets, then you aren't constantly digging around for the one and only match to the sock in your hands...

Also a great idea I didn't think of at all!
  • I like Old Navy for some reason. and Baby Gap.
I have a bunch of carters and some I bought at Target though.

  • Old navy are my favorites. We also had a couple pairs of Nike newborn socks that stayed on really well.
  • I liked footed pants/sleepers for this reason. My daughter would do everything she could to kick off her socks no matter what we did (she still is this way, ha!) so I'm doing the same for this LO as well.
  • Agree with @Achae. DD spent so much time in onesie sleepers and pants with footies on them, especially being born in late Jan since it was so cold for the first six months.
  • I'm not sure if you have the store Ross where you are, but that's where I got most of my socks.

I also second the mesh garment bag to was them in.
I washed hats, socks, mittens, and bibs in that.. Then dumped it out to dry.. I have all my pairs still :)
  • At my shower I got these wonderful little things called Sock Ons. They are elastic bands that keep baby's socks on! Who knew these things existed?!?!
  • I've seen those before! Let us know if they actually work!
  • I was about go say sock ons are a god send. I used them with my last baby and they are fab - definitely get a pair or two as they DO work!
  • Another vote for the laundry bag - I am less concerned with losing them in the machine than I am having to fish them out! Our unit is so deep! No thank you!

  • Not totally related but I bought the mesh lingerie bag with the zipper at Target and it tore on the side after like 3 washes. Was very inexpensive but still that's really poor quality.
  • Old navy socks and I agree about the garment bag. Training the dh to put them in there was another story. Lol

  • I had the hardest time keeping socks on DS! He had long feet, but they were narrow and his ankles were tiny. GAP and Greber socks stayed on him best.
