Labor/Relaxing Playlists

I know we are all a few months (hopefully!) away from delivery, but I have been working on my playlist on Spotify, and I thought I'd start a thread where we could post either links to our playlists, or the lists themselves written out. Whether you're looking for something for yourself, or you have something to share, this is the thread for you! All genres of music are welcome! You might dig Jazz or Classical, mellow Alternative, "Spa" or World music, or Pop, Country or Heavy Metal. Whatever works for you will help you relax and have a positive labor, delivery and recovery. (Or just some mellow tunes to relax now!) Enjoy!

    Here is the link to my "Classical Music for Labor" playlist on Spotify. I will keep editing, both adding and deleting over the next few months. (I'm hoping to upgrade to Premium a couple weeks prior to my due date so I don't have adds during labor! How annoying would that be?!)

    Haha, ads during labor would be awful! I've never had music playing during labor before, but it's something I might like to try this time around since I'll be at home (hopefully). Thanks for sharing!

    My husband and I talked about this especially if I have to get a repeat c section we'd like some chill music to play when baby is entering the world and to calm nervous parents. They're a little cliche but here's a few:

    Beatles - Here comes the sun, blackbird (big brother's sleepy time song), here there and everywhere
    Edward Sharpe - Home
    Modest Mouse - Float On
    She & Him - Sweet Darling
    Whitestripes - I can tell that we are going to be friends
    The kooks - love it all (our first dance at our wedding)
    And some local artists, mainly Joel Plaskett (I highly reccomend if you like chill, folksy music, acclaimed songwriter in Canada), Dan Managan, Whitehorse.

    We don't need much since a section is pretty short! If I go into labour on my own we're watching hilarious movies til push time! Then maybe the above playlist low in the background.

    I hadn't even thought about music during delivery. My sis was kind enough to inform me that she's been putting together a "birthing playlist" for me. Her playlist is definitely more for her own amusement not something I'd even consider. Some of her song choices: Lady Gaga-Born This Way, Salt n Pepa- Push It...although hilarious, not something I'd want to listen to at that moment.

    I downloaded a whole big playlist last pregnancy and it just irritated the crap out of me when I was in labor, so instead I just listened to my hypnobirthing tracks over and over for about 10 hours. It was the only sound that didn't make me want to kill someone. (It's basically just a lady saying " You can do this. You're not going to die. Breathe." It was really comforting at the time). I did however put this on after the baby was born to help soothe her to sleep. I also used to play it for my dog when he was a little puppy :)

    Hahaha! This is totally me. I've heard music helps a lot of women but it would make me completely insane ;)

    @soxfan9968 that playlist sounds like a fun listen when you're doing baby things like packing your hospital bags or setting up the nursery. Something like that would drive me nuts during labour but I get why some people would love it.
    I think mine would be more extreme background noise if I'm able to VBAC but will use mine if I get a section. The OR is weirdly quiet and they said that they allow music so why not? I had some interesting convo with my OB while they were closing me up including "wow your ovaries look great" which seems weird by I have PCOS so once everyone else got caught up on that fact it wasn't as weird. But comments like that tend to echo and it's just awkwardly unsettling.

    I never used a playlist with my other 3. It would aggrivate me personally.I liked to be in quite, and dim lights when was in labor. I found it more relaxing and soothing. No music, tv or talking to me. When I'm sick I have to be in quite, darkness and kept cool to.

    Yep no music needed. I don't think I would be in the mood for music anyway... just get it over with and get that baby (and placenta) out of me!  I think that was my thought during the last delivery. It worked alright.

    I had a playlist for my first two births, but it was mainly for the calm parts of labor. I know it kept playing, but I did not hear it in active labor.

    Yeah music and playlists are the last thing I'm thinking about when I'm in the throes of labor.  But I'm just not that into music I guess.  I'm sure DH would be listening to Pearl Jam the entire time if he had to give birth ;)

    So I thought she was being funny but I later saw an episode of Jane the Virgin. She's not as original as I once gave her credit for! Lol! That little weasel!

    I'm actually going to try listening to music while I'm labor. I'm not going to make a goofy play list (like playing salt-n-Peppa Push It while trying to push) but I thought to help me along I'd put on all the songs that I know the baby kicks to when I listen in the car on my way to work. I have a low pain tolerance but would like to see how far I can get through labor without an epidural, and I think music would help divert my attention from the pain- for a little while at least.

    PSA!

    Spotify is having a deal! Sign up for a Premium trial for only 99 cents for three months. They never have free trials, and I was going to sign up in late February anyway and pay for only one month. This deal only goes through Dec. 31st, but I waited until now to start the 3 months to ensure it would take me to a couple weeks past my due date. Now I won't have commercials interrupting my play list. Yay!

    I assumed I would use music to relax last time; instead, we went to sleep and totally forgot about it. We will probably bring iPad and speakers this time but have nothing specific prepared.
