When is the best time to buy baby stuff over the holidays?

So, I'm not much of a shopper and have a small family who rarely do a lot of holiday gifts, so I've never been a black Friday person or know when the best deals hit - but for those who are savvy shoppers, do you have a specific day or couple of days in mind where you're going to scoop up any baby stuff you still need?  We shopped one awesome deal on black Friday for a stroller/car seat combo, but still have quite a few bigger items to buy (glider, monitors, etc.) and I was thinking maybe to wait until right after Christmas?  Or maybe it's best to buy the day or two before?

We're registered on Amazon and have prime membership, so we'll be getting 15% off when we do our completion discount purchasing, but if there's a smart day to do that (day after Christmas?) to get any mark downs on top of that, I'd love to know!  I did some cursory googling but couldn't really find an answer related to non Christmas items (electronics, toys, etc.)  Thanks, savvy shoppers!  :)

  • I'm definitely not a savvy shopper. But I do know my Amazon registry backwards (I possibly spent too much time on it!), I check it every day, and check the Deal of the Day, and I notice if any of the big items is a lot cheaper than usual, I've saved quite a lot that way. I was going to save my completion discount until January, in case there are any Christmas gifts before then, maybe sales will be good then too? I would expect there to be some good deals on Boxing Day (Dec 26th) but I don't know for sure.

  • I know some stores have better sales as we get closer to Christmas but I wouldn't rely on a buy but baby or babies r us to do that since I don't think their business is holiday driven but it doesn't hurt to keep a watchful eye on them. I DO know that if you sign up for the mailing list at Buy Buy Baby you automatically get 20% off and they take coupons from Bed Bath and Beyond and you can sometimes stack them so you can save a decent amount of money there.

I noticed the prices dropped on alot of my amazon registry items around black Friday and now they are all back to normal price. I'm waiting until boxing day (Dec 26th) to use my completion code in hopes that the prices will drop again.

So the next big sale day is the day after Christmas however the way black Friday was this year (started on Wednesday and cyber Monday started on Saturday), I wouldn't be surprised if they started the deals early.
  • Thanks, guys!  :)

Btw, for those of you who also have amazon registries (like me) I decided yesterday to register the same items at Target as well, so I can comparison shop, since Target occasionally has sales and the red card (if you decide to get it) gives you an extra 5% off.
  • Was just at babies r us yesterday. Clothing was almost all on clearence 50-70%. Some feeding supplies (bottle sets, breast milk stoage supplies) was buy one get one half off. Seemed to be an instores only sale.
I ended up with several spring/summer outfits for LO and got a complete coming home outfit for $7 that was originally $40+
We've been keeping an eye on the actual store rather than online.
  • I think after Christmas a lot of stuff goes on sale, if you can wait that long.

  • I'm a second time mom and didn't have a shower. I registered at Target and Amazon just to get the discounts. We need a few bigger ticket items (second car seat base, new monitor, bassinet) but not much else. I put things on both registries so that I could keep an eye on price and get the better deal at whichever place has sales. I think since I have a Target Red Card I will probably end up getting most things through that registry. But I am waiting until after Christmas to see if any of the random things go on sale before I buy.
  • If you're registered at Amazon (and even if you're not), don't forget about Amazon Warehouse. I browse it regularly to see if any registry items (exact or similar brand/style) are on there. Over the weekend we got our new Motorola two camera video monitor for $60 less than regular Amazon price. It's not in the original box, but for a $69 savings, I don't care haha.

You have free returns for 30 days, and Amazon CS is amazing, so it's a great money saving option.

  • @Maurennmce - Amazon warehouse is amazing!! Any time I buy anything from amazon, I always check warehouse first to see if it's there. :)
