Sick while pregnant

Anyone else sick? I'm just gonna put it out there but between morning sickness, sore breasts, a headache, stuffy nose, ear ache and a terrible two toddler I'm a giant mess. Anyone else?
Who wants to complain with me?
And why is it that every time I get sick my husband is out of town?

Re: Sick while pregnant

  • I am not sick right now, I have my own crazy battle going on.  But I will gladly listen to you rant.  :)

    Ugh, yes. I feel you!

I've had sinus gunk for a few days now and feel terrible in addition to complete exhaustion. I cried in the kitchen on Friday night with something to the effect of "I can't afford or stand to feel like this forever - I hate being pregnant and I'm never doing this again."

  • I have a fever and sore throat :(
  • I had a fever on Tuesday! Sore throat, vomitting and now I have a residue cough. So tired and achy! It's really lasted all week. Hope it will be over soon. Luckily my fever only lasted 24 hours, I was worried!
  • I tried cutting all allergies meds cold turkey (I do shots, a nasal steroid spray, and near constant zytrec or Claritin D, plus several nights a week saline rinse to keep the prior 4-6 times a year bad sinus infections away) when I got the positive test at 4 weeks since last period, and that didn't go well at all. 4 days later I called my allergy Doctor and the OBGYN and am now doing just a Benadryl at night and a different, approved spray and that's got my allergies controlled again! It was a rough few days in between.

I have been increasingly queasy by the day since about 4 days before testing positive, and while I haven't thrown up, it's miserable. No puking yet, but I'm doing frequent meals, PSI bands, ginger tea, and my husband thinks I'm nuts!

And, have had diarrhea every morning for the last 1.5 days, and have lost about 3 lbs. I was taking One a Day Prenatal and tried taking it midday was significant food in my body for the day, have been eating a super basic diet and drinking a ton of water, but no change. I switched to the Rainbow Light prenatal a yesterday, but still diarrhea this morning. Hoping the change will help, but feeling miserable in the meantime!

I'm normally a pretty active person, with a full time job and run a couple miles every other day, but these days, a walk through the grocery store is exhausting.

So yes, feeling like I have the flu and counting down to the second trimester. Am going to call the doctor tomorrow morning and ask about trying the B6 approach, because the 24/7 nausea is getting a little old here already. And, Christmas is coming up... I'd prefer not to be a bucket of misery!!

    So, you're not alone!
  • Yes! I had the stomach bug last weekend and have been totally congested and coughing all week this week. Plus, dealing with a tantrum-ing 20 month old is only adding to my exhaustion.

  • Sore throat, stuffy nose, ear ache, plus no energy, plus 14 month old. Super fun!

  • Ugh yes. I had a sore throat and a little cough last week. Yesterday I woke up at 5am with puking and diarrhea, and it lasted for hours. Thank goodness my husband took care of the kids all day. Much better today, but sore and tired.
  • Unfortunately, yes. Just congested with a cough. I feel like it's been going on since we found out around Thanksgiving.
  • Yes .. Ugh one of my coworkers came in with a cold last week and was coughing all over everyone. So I've been stuffy and coughing ever since but, it's winding down. I made my ginger, lemon water and that is a miracle worker - for morning sickness too!

Chop up and pound a big chunk of raw ginger to get the oils flowing, then boil it in water on the stovetop. Once it's all infused in the water pour into a mug and squeeze a whole lemon into it, add a squirt of honey and drink it all fairly quickly - let it cool a bit though so you don't hurt your mouth.
  • Guys! I'm so glad I'm not alone!
I hate to see other people sick but I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like a complete mess.

We ventured out to Target last night thinking it would be good to get out of the house. Within five minutes I already knew it was a bad idea.  Whining for goldfish, not enough toys in the car, shoes and socks off the minute I buckled him in... ugh. Pregnancy is rough... but being sick and having other kids... Not fun!
    Thanks Ladies!

  • I have a killer cold and with quiting caffeine on top of that I am dying. Been drinking hot honey/lemon water to "help" even though I'm sure it's doing nothing.

My coworker has had a cold twice-I don't think I've completely dodged it but I can't tell. My nose is runny because it's cold, I'm nauseous and can't eat much so I always feel cold, and I'm constantly tired :(

I just got a hemorrhoid yesterday because I've been constipated-apologies for tmi-so all in all not good lol

But it will totally be worth it when I see our baby's heartbeat tomorrow :)

  • Yup!  I had a stomach bug on Thanksgiving and ever since I've had some kind of ailment.  Nothing pregnancy related, other than sore boobs, but that doesn't really bother me.  But I've had a sore throat for a week, started to get better, but now I have no voice and there are layoffs at work so I'm not allowed to stay home....my toddler decided now is a good time to stop sleeping through the night so mommy can't even get the rest she needs.  I also have the first trimester fatigue they talk about, which I didn't experience at all during my first pregnancy, so this is all new, too.  Giant cluster.

  • Ugh yes we've had sickness in my house for 4 weeks. I got sick right when my TWW started, so I couldn't take anything for my horrendous cough. Luckily, it was worth it when I got my BFP. My husband and kids have been sick since then, we've all just started round 2. Sinus congestion and pressure and chest pain, on top of morning sickness. Took my kids to the zoo lights yesterday and felt my chest getting tighter and tighter. I am so miserable!

  • Ugh yes. So sick over here! Very sore throat (I would rather poke my eyes out with forks than swallow), major headaches, and all over shakes/dizziness/aches. And I have a 7 month old. And my hubby works out of town for 16 days of the month. Definitely exhausted!!! Hope we all get better soon!
  • Yes! Sore throat, congestion and my body hurts all over!!

  • @GRJC OMG! Reading your post was like you read my mind! I got super sick this weekend and my 20 month old has an ear infection. Today I was diagnosed with strep. I'm so happy to have meds so I can get better. And, my husband is out of town too! I spent most of Sunday laying on the floor while LO played.
