PP Constipation Anyone?

I've been constipated for the last 3 days. I've tried Dulcolax, Colace, Miralax and today milk of magnesia. I feel like if I push any harder my insides will be on the outside! Last resort will be a Fleet tomorrow. Anyone else going through this? I really don't want to shell out $ for constipation!

Re: PP Constipation Anyone?

  • Colace worked for me. I also drank prune juice. If you up your fiber make sure you drink A LOT of water. Good luck!

  • It sounds dumb but do u drink coffee? I had problems using the restroom at first but then after a week home with two kids I started drinking coffee like crazy & now I have no problem at all.
  • @RaisingJulian not really, I get a latte here and there but don't drink coffee daily. Maybe I'll try that. Of course I went onto Dr. Google tonight and I'm convinced I have some sort of prolapse situation going on. Think I might take a mirror down there to see what's going on.

@helsbels222 I think I might buy some Benifiber tomorrow to see if it helps.
  • try some prune juice too!
  • Oatmeal every morning seems to help me. I add some cinnamon to get a double boost for milk production. And make sure you are drinking lots of water.
  • Senna! Smooth move tea is my saving grace.
  • So with GD my favorite part of the day was right before bed I was able to have a milkshake to carry the carbs throughout the night so I wouldn't tank and then spike blood sugar wise overnight. It was a god send for me PP because having a high dose of dairy nightly totally helped. I also had coffee on occasion and would have the Metamucil cookies. May not work for all, but worked for me.
  • I did a Fleet enema this afternoon and I think it worked. Felt like a second birth but I don't feel the pressure back their anymore. After I thought I passed the hard stool that had me backed up I called it quits and have been lying on the couch for 30 min. Hoping it's over, that was horrible!
  • Phillips stool softer it took taking 3 of them per day for a couple days but it worked and I have suffered my whole pregnancy and before with constipation or like other people said a big glass of warm prune juice and lots of water !
  • Sorry you're going through that! My sister swears by both coffee and cutting dairy. The oils in the coffee help loosen things up and for her, dairy was what was keeping her backed up. She notices a huge difference when she either misses her daily coffee or consumes dairy.
  • I will def. try coffee tomorrow to see if it Kees things moving because I DO NOT want to go through that again. I should buy one of those beer helmets so I can always have water near by lol!
  • Coffee helps. I also eat fiber one bars and I've found pears help a lot too.

I have in this problem few weeks ago, I am not taking any laxatives as it may have a bad effects to our body. I tried fruits and vegetables but it seems not working again with me. Good thing my friends recommended this Digestic from Mimonis to me. I used it only for two days and it does a very good result to me. I can regularly take a poop at least once daily now.

I've had several boughts of pp constipation and I feel you- I've cried several times trying to pass stools. I think drinking lots of water has helped and coffee and fiber one bars. Best of luck- I know it's awful

ETA- I think eating triscuits helped me too!!
  • I've been having this issue on and off the pat 2 weeks. They gave me Colace stool softener at the hospital which obviously hasn't been working. I finally caved after trying for an hour this morning and went to CVS and got a suppository. Took less than 5 mins. That was like giving birth a second time, not gonna lie. It sucked but I feel a lot better, now.
  • @mrsaragon I know that feelin! After I did the Fleet I thought for sure I was going to pass out. I've been taking Benefiber everyday because I'm still not back to my normal appetite and making sure I drink tons of water.
