1st Trimester

Restless legs???

Is anyone experiencing restless legs at night? I am 8 weeks pregnant and pretty much experience this tingling feeling every other night. Don't know where this is coming from. Elevating the legs helps at times. Does anyone have other remedies? Also, what are your pregnancy symptoms during the first trimester?beside my restless legs I experience 'evening' sickness, tiredness all day and dreams, never had so many dreams in my life, at least that I could remember...

Re: Restless legs???

  • I have mild RLS from before because I have hypothyroidism. I am definitely feeling it more during pregnancy. Worst at nights. I just apply some pressure either by hand and by folding my legs and sitting on them for a while before I sleep. Compression socks that are thigh-high can also help.

Are you taking Levothyroxine? My doctor has switched me to Synthroid. I was just wondering if you have switched if you've felt a difference? I've gone to the hyper side here lately. It's my first time being hyper in my life.

  • Yes @doozer1345 I am! That may be it then. Not sure if I wanna switch meds during pregnancy though cuz I've been on it for more than four years and it's stable. Will consult my endocrinologist next time. Thanks!
  • Same here. my calves hurt in the evening sometimes so I have one or two pillows to raise my feet which usually helps.
  • Yes! I can't ever seem to get my left leg comfortable. I find myself twisting and turning all night. That's on top of back pain!

  • Try switching to a prenatal with magnesium in it. I recommend Rainbow Light Embrace 35+. It has a more absorbable form of magnesium in it. Definitely helps.

Yeah, my endo told me I would be feeling some symptoms on top of being pg with my thyroid. I've got to go to her every 4 weeks from now until I give birth. She told me Synthroid seems to be better with pg. I am going to switch for now only bc I've gone into hyper.

  • Omg I have the exact same symptoms as you!
  • I'm having trouble with this too! It happens almost every night right before bed. I have always monitored my thyroid levels because of symptoms and family history, but never been diagnosed with anything. I've never had RLS before pregnant, but maybe I just didn't notice because I used to enjoy a glass of wine each night before bed :). I'm glad to hear some suggestions of things I can do! I have also struggled with my arms and legs "falling asleep" at night. I feel like leaving a limb still for more than 30 min it goes numb. Are the two maybe related? Is it a circulation thing?
  • I have been having the same issue with my legs, going to check with my OB on monday.
