Spitting up?

Anyone else notice their baby is spitting up a whole lot more since starting food? My little guy will spit up several times after breastmilk or food now. Last weekend while I was at work my husband said he spit up 6 times after a bottle. Yes he pace feeds. He only gets 3.5 oz per bottle and he goes 3 hours between feedings. Today after I fed him carrots with rice he spit up for an hour. Is this just me?

Re: Spitting up?

  • This happened to us today too! We have her cereal at 7, and she puked at 845. She seemed okay so I fed her again and she puked it all up again! ): now all worried.

  • My baby is doing the same...I was wondering why she has been all of s sudden (she's never been a big spitter) I didn't even think it might be the solids!
  • I think sometimes our babies digestive system just isn't quite ready for solids so they spit up or puke it up, it may be a sign they aren't quite ready, maybe wait a week or two and try again. Our girl started solids at 4 months per Doctor recommendation as she doubles her bottle intake. But we still only do one meal a day. And I really thin it out with her milk for her. I find adding her milk to her food helps her digest it a little better then just straight peas or sweet potatoes etc. so maybe try that if you haven't already? She doesn't usually spit anything up unless she over eats and then might spit up once when she gets up from high hair. Hope that helps a bit! The only other thing I can think of is an allergy or sensitivity to what your feeding your baby? Maybe try something different? My baby girl is sensitive to rice cereal so we use oatmeal instead!
  • My daughter started spitting up more so I asked our Doctor. It was more clear saliva like spit up and the doctor said she's drooling a lot more because she's teething, and that might be the reason... Or she's just going through a phase...
  • Mine spits up a lot more too. I thought maybe I was feeding her a little too much food so I backed off a little - she didn't like that one bit. But it seemed to do the trick.
  • I take back what I said.... she spit up quite a bit today after having a little bit of cereal at breakfast. Will ask her doc at the next appt. She still seems to be a "happy spitter," so Im not too worried. Still.... would like to do less laundry!
