TTC After a Loss

OPk timing question

Hello ladies. I want to make sure I've got my timing right. When I get a positive on the wondflo OPKs (two dark lines) that's when We have been BD. I have had long surges the last 2 months, I've gotten a positive for like 1.5 days. Then it goes away, which I'm assuming is O. I haven't been temping but I do check cervical fluid. Am I timing it right? Is that what you are supposed to do? Start BD as soon as you get a positive? Help!!

Re: OPk timing question

  • I think once you get a positive OPK, that means you are having an LH surge which means ovulation will occur in the next 24 hours or so, so yes I think you are timing things correctly.  Good luck!!!

  • Yes, as far as what you describe you're doing it right. OPKs are tricky because there are so many brands and they all have different instructions. I don't know about the wondfos, but it's possible to try to google instructions specifically for that brand. I use ClearBlue's advanced monitor which identifies high and peak days. I like the digital and that it just tells me in the instructions exactly what the test results mean.

  • I think they say, assuming your DH/SO doesn't have a low sperm count to BD the day of OPK the 2 days after then skip a day and BD again.

With my loss pregnancy that's what we did & it worked. I used Wondfo's.

I always did every other day (week before ovulation) leading up to a positive OPK and then 2-3 days straight once I got a positive. Once you get a positive OPK you are likely going to ovulate within 12-36 hours. You just don't really know where you are in your surge, and the idea is that you want sperm already "there" getting stronger and waiting to fertilize the egg once it arrives.

I would recommend focusing on being actively BDing before the OPK and then turning up your efforts once you get the positive. Assuming no sperm issue on DH's end. My doc told me we should be having sex every 2-3 days while TTC to keep sperm at it's best/healthiest.

    Good luck!
