Re: Monday Check-In

  • How far along are you: 12w3d

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: burped stomach acid this morning. I thought we were done with this body....

What are you doing to get ready for baby?(Feel free to skip this question if you don't have anything): woo I actually have something today! DH decided he wanted to be baby-productive yesterday. Some graco stuff was on sale on amazon so we ordered a fancy pack-and-play. Well then DH decided he wanted to clean out more of the office that will become the baby's room so he has somewhere to set up the PNP when it gets here. We got rid of all the excess boxes and clutter that was in there and the took the books and bookshelf out put it where it will be from now on. Now I just have to clean up my desk in there and figure out where in earth the printer is going to go.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you: I'm really bummed that I won't get to ski this winter even though the mountains around where I live now are baby mountains compared to where I learned to ski. That being said, I loved teaching DH to ski and can't wait to teach this baby to ski when they're older.

@Sgoldberg247 Woo hoo for making progress on baby's room!

How far along are you: 14+2

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Second OB appointment this afternoon! I'm excited to hear baby's heartbeat again. Other than that, I think it's just a routine appt...blood work, weight, measurements, etc. Got 90% of my holiday baking done yesterday! It was an all day event, and by 5pm my feet hurt so bad that I said screw it, I'll finish tomorrow. As far as symptoms...shooting vagina pains, gassy, RLP, headaches.

    Questions? None today.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you. When I was younger I used to play just about every sport under the sun (not every, but quite a few) - softball, swim team, dance and figure skating to name a few.

*Edited to add more to Raves
  • 12w2d
Symptoms: RLP plus back ache plus upcoming appointment equals major anxiety.
Rave: meeting my best friend for a Caribbean lunch. Then hanging out with her and my daughter this afternoon. That should distract me from my anxiety.
Question- lots of growing pains at just over 12 weeks is normal right? Ignore me if you've already attempted to reassure me in my RLP discussion- you're all so nice and helpful. I had a lot of aches 2 weeks ago but then a hiatus.
GTKY: I used to do competitive springboard diving in high school.
  • @SMLmom I hope you feel a little more at ease after your appointment! For me, I started noticing RLP starting around 11-12 weeks. I would say the growing pains are totally and completely normal. 12 weeks is usually when the uterus really starts to pop up out of the pelvis - making room for that baby!
  • @mrsschmity vagina pains already? Ouch! I never had them till later (about half way ) with my others. Hoping I still have a while to go!

@Sgoldberg247 we took out oldest two skiing last year. By skiing I mean they took a lesson. One loved it, the other cried the whole time lol. Hoping they like it more next year.

Symptoms : cramping had stopped hit last night had some again. But thankful it's not an every day occurance like it was.
Raves: I have two Christmas party suppers this week!

GTKY: I'm a reality tv junkie :S I know! How bad is that?!? Lol but I love them!
  • @marriedtoadutchman This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what to expect lol I was definitely not expecting any vagina pain yet though. It's random and mild, but it definitely feels like a mini lightning bolt shooting through my vagina.

Enjoy your Christmas parties this week!
  • How far along are you: 13 weeks today!

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rave: OB appointment tomorrow morning! Soo excited to hear/see baby again! Rant: I seem to be getting sick again and it feels very similar to what I had a few weeks ago - upper respiratory infection. Started with a sore throat, now it's scratchy and feels like there is a lot of post-nasal drip. Hoping it won't stick around. Symptoms: RLP, heartburn, tired, sore nips, tender boobs.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you: I did JROTC in high school and was actually pretty good at it. I was on all the special teams and captain of the rifle team and got a ton of medals.

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms:
I feel like shit. Awful headache plus a cold, & RLP is kicking my butt. I wish I could have stayed in bed today.
Only 4.5 work days until a 2 week break. Friday seems so far away at the moment.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you.
Hmm. I often question the profession I chose. I wanted to be a teacher for most of my life, but jobs are so hard to come by around here. And I'm not really satisfied at my current school. I wish I had chosen a different route...but I don't know what route that would have been. I don't really talk about that with anyone because it seems so overwhelming at times.

  • @Sgoldberg47 Good for you! We have to do some serious furniture re-arranging and I am not looking forward at all to it. Nursery may not get done until the 11th hour. Haha.

@mrschmity I also have my second appointment today! And the NT ultrasound, so I'm extra pumped. I haven't started baking and I'm running out of time. I think it might just not happen this year. :(

@SMLmom I had to google what springboard was. Very cool!

@marriedtoadutchman I was just complaining about cramps to my husband. Sometimes they are period-level bad. I thought avoiding period symptoms was supposed to be the one really great thing about being pregnant (at least in first trimester). Apparently not!

@BakerBird525 That sucks, especially around the holidays. Feel better soon!

How far along are you: 11 + 5

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: My nausea has been pretty bad the past few days so I cut up a bunch of watermelon and every time I woke up last night I had a few pieces. And I woke up this morning feeling pretty good! My mouth is cotton-dry from the sugar in the watermelon so I brushed my teeth right away but what a nice change. I just REALLY want the nausea to be over. I've had it since week 5. It's time! Go away!

What are you doing to get ready for baby? Might head to BRU today to try out strollers and car seats, etc. I learned a lot from the car seat thread yesterday. We have a civic and it never occurred to me that there wouldn't be room and that the passenger seat might be out of commission!

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you. I'm so boring that I really don't have an answer to this. But I'm enjoying learning about you interesting ladies!
  • How far along? 13+5?

Rants/Raves/Symptoms Still feeling like absolute crap today. I keep waking up praying I'll feel better after 2 weeks of this. No such luck.

Doing to get ready for baby? Nothing

GTKY I've lived in Germany for 3 months as an exchange student. Loved it best experience.
  • @DeePaddy24 I totally get it about your job. I never dreamed of being a VP... I dreamed about being a drama teacher and sometimes wish I still was. The pay and my current 4-day week situation make it too good to look back right now (especially with a toddler) but sometimes I wish my career had been a bit different.

@BakerBird525 Come back and update us after your appointment tomorrow! Sorry you're feeling crappy again though :(
@DeePaddy24 Ditto on the Friday comment. It can't come soon enough. I'm looking forward to my 3 day week next week.
@catherinekate Good luck at your appt today! Let us know how everything goes. My sister came over to help me with the baking, so I can't take all the credit lol
@cmillar36I hope you start feeling better soon

Rants/Raves/Symptoms:  Puked for the first time this morning.  I thought this sh*t was supposed to be going away, not JUST showing up!  Rave: I am 99% done with Christmas shopping!  I almost passed out while standing in the checkout line yesterday, but I made it out alive!  Now I just have to wrap them all.  And figure out what to get for my FIL... he's the hardest to shop for!  DH has no ideas either, but he's a little pre-occupied with having bronchitis and pneumonia.  Our house is a mess right now.

Questions?  None that I can think of...

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you.  I got to ride on the Weightless Wonder at NASA in college.  It's the plane that they use to simulate zero gravity.  It was awesome!

  • @Kballew10 The puke fairy showed up for the first time for me as well the other day around 14 weeks. I was like WTF.
  • How far along are you? 15 weeks today.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Yesterday I picked up and swung around my nephew (21 months, maaaybe 20lbs) at our Secret Santa exchange and I had the gnarliest stabbing pain immediately after and on and off for the rest of the night. I called the doctor and they said they don't think his weight was an issue, probably just how I picked him up and to take it easy today and reevaluate my pain at the same time tomorrow. I feel better this morning and now I have the day off work to relax and prep for finals on Wednesday, but holy crap I was so terrified last night that I had hurt my baby. I felt so guilty.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you. I am TERRIFIED of frogs. I have an aunt that freaks out when she sees one and I imagine she traumatized me at a young age. I learned just the other day that she had a bad acid trip when she was younger and her boyfriend "turned into a frog" and ever since then she's been freaked out by them. So, I'm terrified of frogs because my aunt took drugs 30 years ago, haha.
  • @DeePaddy24 - I also sometimes question my career.  But I also have no alternative plans, so this is what I get right now.  As for now, let's all just hope that Friday comes quickly!

@Mrsschmity - I think our puke fairies missed the memo about nausea going away after 12 weeks... My most repeated phrase right now is "come on baby, cooperate with me!"  I know it's my stupid body an hormones that are making me nauseous, not the actual baby; but my stomach doesn't have ears, so I can't ask for it's cooperation!

@ahernandez16 - That is the best story ever!  It made me laugh.  Thanks!

  • Happy Monday!

    How far along are you:
    12 weeks, 6 days

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Not feeling pukey at all anymore - moved onto starving constantly and needing 5 meals a day... also, spending waaaay too much on delivery food when I MUST HAVE something NOW! Like, Chinese food yesterday. I woke up wanting it for breakfast and waited until 11 am when the store opened to order it immediately!

What are you doing to get ready for baby? (Feel free to skip this question if you don't have anything): Not much at the moment, just keeping an eye out for any needed items on local yard sale sites so I can get good deals. Also, going to my next doc appt today, so happy to hear the heartbeat hopefully!

    Questions? Nope.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you. Hmm... I'm pregnant! Haha! I have only told my immediate family and like 3 friends, so not many people know that about me! I'm honestly kind of embarrassed to tell people because I swore we were done with kids and DS2 is only 18 months, so I fear people are going to think I'm full of it!

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Nothing really to rant or rave about.  We had a great weekend.  Oh!  DH surprised me last night by driving us up to Hershey, PA and taking me to the Sweet Lights display that I'd wanted to go see for a few years.  Super sweet of him. :D

As far as symptoms go, occasionally I get RLP and tender breasts/nipples, but generally all is well.  A little short-tempered lately.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you.  I had to sit and think about this for a little while, lol!  And I still got nothin'.  I'm sooo boring.  Uhh, everyone knows I have cats (three now, since we recently adopted a kitten).  But fewer people know that I'm actually allergic to cats!  I get some weird looks when I tell people that info, haha.

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms:
DH's boss told everyone I'm pregnant at a meeting on Friday. Eye roll. I was rather confused at first when people kept coming up to me with congratulations.

What are you doing to get ready for baby? Sent out our announcements this morning, if that counts.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you.
I went to NASA Space Camp in Florida when I was in 6th grade. I got a special award at camp graduation for my team having the best shuttle flight simulation. I was the shuttle commander and decided I wanted to be one when I grew up. Spoiler alert: not a shuttle commander. Turns out that industry was dead when I went to college, hah.

  • Hi ladies! Sounds like y'all had a good weekend! Yay for all you ladies with doctors appointments this week!

How far along are you: 11w4d

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Tired, nausea is intermittent (rave?), slight uterine stretching sensations, sore nips.

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you.
I was a competitive gymnast for a decade before I got too tall (physics are a beyotch when your center of gravity is too high), then I was a ballet dancer for another decade into adulthood. Seriously miss both, but dancing is way more practical to continue as a very tall almost 30 year old :)
  • @mkemommy Nope! DH and I were at an appt and DH had to miss some meeting. The boss told everyone why he wasn't there. We found out at a company dinner that night. I don't think it was malicious or anything. Though he did not apologize...

Rants/Raves/Symptoms:  I've been super grouchy the last two days.  It's been a weird mood...like everything people do is pissing me off.  I don't know if that is a Rant or a symptom but it's frustrating as hell.  Rave...I met my ex-husband girlfriend yesterday and she seems very nice and has a great attitude toward her role in my son's life.  She even volunteered them to take care of the LO when she arrives.  I know that seems weird but my ex and I get along great and we have a great friendship.
What are you doing to get ready for baby? After Friday SO and I will both be on Christmas break for 2 weeks, we are both teachers/coaches.  We are going to do our best to get the baby's room ready before we have to go back to work.  We are ripping up carpet, painting walls, changing the ceiling fan to a chandelier, and moving all the furniture in.

Questions?  Is anyone else so frustrated with the SO that get angry at a spoken word?

GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you.
I have a BBA and a MBA but I teach high school computer programming.  My career path took a slightly different path.  I wouldn't have it any other day and I LOVE my job.

  • @mkemommy choosing wasn't that difficult since there were only a few models in sale (40% off). We got one that had the most features that we felt would be useful for a reasonable price. We ended up getting a few things that we hadn't intended on spendinf extra on since the sale price took off the extra money we would have spent on them.

Rant: I'm not done with my skating dress for my skating solo that's THIS Sunday..... I had To make a new one that didn't make me look fat, and actually made my bump/blump a little less.... Blumpy?
Rave: my dress looks awesome so far!!! It's still in pieces and I have a lot of work to do on it, but I'm excited.

GTKY: not only am I a seamstress and an ice skating coach, I'm also a certified chef AND pastry chef. I went through culinary school, got my associates and bachelors of science, and worked in kitchen for the last 7 years. My last job had a lot of drama and because I was a woman in the kitchen, I got a lot of crap from a new chef, so I actually told him to eff off and I quit. Lol. I worked there for 4, almost 5 years and helped build that place to what it was.

Time for some decaf coffee and to finish the dress!!!

  • @JonesBaby0624 that's great about your husband's ex. I totally have been snapping at my husband... last night I was bitchy with him about picking up my daughter's books (he does not tidy!) and he told me I'm being very "divisive" lately and picking fights. I think it's just all my anxiety... Anyway I feel badly but I am definitely extra irritable- or he's extra annoying but I think it's the former.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: My symptoms seems to be chilling a bit. Though I do get a little nauseous still and my nipples are insanely sensitive and a bit itchy. I woke up this morning with a headache and I've had some RLP. I've been having a lot more energy though. My food aversions are still strong though... I wonder if I'll ever eat meat again.

What are you doing to get ready for baby? So far just been listening to audio books and podcasts
    Questions? None right now
GTKY: Tell us something not many people know about you. I'm incredibly picky about how socks fit on my feet.
  • @hockeyfan42 That's so ridiculous. You seem like you're handling it well but I'd be furious.

@sdLinenberg Wow, is there anything you can't do? That dress looks great so far. Post pictures when it's done! I've always wanted to learn to sew. And gender dynamics in the kitchen are terrible. My husband is a chef and is constantly having to lecture his junior staff on misogyny. I have some female friends that have similarly been driven out of the industry which is terrible because they're so talented.

@JonesBaby0624 Yes, I am there. My husband is being very patient with my moodiness.

I forgot this gif earlier but it's always appropriate.

  • @catherinekate &  @smlmom

I am glad I am not the only one.  I don't know if it's that I am being bitchy or he is being annoying but we have been fighting about everything.  He says I am being very hard to get along with.  Well, I am growing another human...I think I'm allowed to be a little disgruntled occaisonally.

:-( hope you feel better soon! I think we're all cranky, hope DH isn't too hard on you for it. After all you're growing a little human!
  • @catherinekate thanks!! I'm pretty happy with it so far! I taught myself how to sew. I got a basic cheap singer machine at target, some remnant scraps from my local fabric store, and sat down and watched hundreds of YouTube videos :)
As far as the kitchen goes, I was essentially one of the boys and never had an issue with anyone on staff until the new "chef" took over. He was lazy, didn't do a single thing but when he did, I had to redo it (he would start French fries in the dryer before even starting to toast the baguette for a sandwich....), so it would take wayyyy more time than necessary. I called him out and that pissed him off lol.
