Tomorrow is my Mom's birthday, and this was the weekend I was supposed to announce to my nieces that I'm pregnant and we have a big weekend planned with the family. However, I just found out yesterday my Mom has bronchitis, a sinus infection and possibly strep. My Mom's been SO excited to tell my nieces about my pregnancy (my brother only gets them one weekend a month and we won't see them again until Christmas), but I'm really freaked out to be around my Mom. I have never had the best immune system so I've always gotten sick easily and I really don't want to get sick while pregnant, but I don't want to break my Mom's heart. I don't know what to do. She's on antibiotics, but I know bronchitis is a virus and antibiotics don't get rid of it. What would you all do? My husband says I need to stop making my family a priority and make our baby the priority, but it's hard when it's her birthday and our only weekend with the girls for a month.
Re: Avoiding sick Mom?
Illness is more contagious before the I'll person ever produces symptoms. I have a son in daycare - I know that if someone went home with a fever, my kid is probably going to have it in a few days because sick kid was contagious before he ever got the fever

If I were you, I would either go and use hand sanitizer on your mom and you every 10 mins. Haha. OR not go and reschedule... It really REALLY sucks to be pregnant and have these kinds of sicknesses... Esp since a lot of the drugs they normally would prescribe cannot be given to us pregnant folks.
Sounds overkill? (but honestly as much as I love my mom and siblings, I wouldn't go. Then again I'm not traveling this Christmas due to the pregnancy so I may fall into the too cautious category.
