I will more than likely be needing a cerclage this go around. I'm just wanting to keep in contact, exchange updates, etc with other moms who may be going through the same thing.
I will be getting a cerclage...again. This will be my third. It's the reason I have carried my last two to term without bed rest or modifying activity. The procedure is no fun, but worth it. Getting it out sucks. However, I'd pretty much experience all kinds of pain to never go through the NICU again.

You didn't need bed rest? That's amazing. For whatever reason, my ob didn't think I needed it last pregnancy. I spent almost 5 months on bed rest, and still dilated to a 7 by 7 months. I held on to my 37 week appointment where they discovered I was at an 8 and admitted me to break my water. Then she needed to be admitted into the NICU for a few weeks
How was the procedure? Did you have to have an epidural? I'm hoping I can opt for general anesthesia.
If you don't mind my asking, had you had a procedure or anything that indicated an incompetent cervix might be possible? I ask because I had a cone biopsy back in June to remove abnormal cells. I haven't met with my doctor yet to ask about the risk but I will soon

I started to funnel and dilate early in my pregnancies, they considered a cerclage last time, but decided against it. She mentioned if we decided to try again I'd definitely have one placed.

Gotcha. I've read a lot about it, I know I'll have to be on the lookout for that too. Fx for you that somehow you won't actually need it this time around!
My oldest was born at 25 weeks possibly due to IC. My perinatalogist recommended it. If you are at all at risk for IC I would highly recommend biweekly cervix checks and/or seek out a consultation with a Perinatologist. Not a OB that deals with high risk patients, specifically a Perinatologist. By the time they caught my cervical issues with my oldest my cervix was too far effaced to get a cerclage.
As far as the procedure, mine were all done under general anesthesia. I was sore and the bleeding scared the shit out of me, but after a week I was allowed to return to all normal activity. Preventative cerclage are more effective than rescue cerclages.
I did have biweekly cervical checks, and p17 shots with the last pregnancy. I'm still slightly upset I didn't advocate for myself and daughter better. Thank you for the recommendation. Did you see the perinatologist instead of or in addition to your OB?
In addition. My OB had to submit a plan to my Perinatologist for monitoring. With my middle I had weekly cervical checks via ultrasound. With my last one I had biweekly cervical checks.
I was on bed rest for an IC during my 1st pregnancy, and the doctor said I would likely need a cerclage in any subsequent pregnancies. I go in for my first appointment on Dec. 28, so we'll see what he says then. For those who've had one, how far along were you? Did you have to take additional measures such as progesterone, too?
