This might be a weird/stupid question..

.. But when you're out and about where do you change baby? I've just been going back to my car and doing it there because I am totally grossed out by the change stations in the bathrooms and refuse to use them. I guess I'm stuck going back to my car huh?

Re: This might be a weird/stupid question..

  • I lay a receiving blanket down on the changing stations.
  • Loading the player...
  • I use the back of the car as well ... Bathrooms gross me out haha
  • I use my car a lot but if I'm in a store I will just lay the changing pad on that.

  • I haven't had to yet, I've gotten lucky when we're out, bug I'll use a receiving blanket on the changing stations. With my daughter I had disposable changing pass I used when we were out so I didn't lay a blanket on the dirty surface. I'll probably buy those soon
  • My diaper bag came with a foldable changing pad. I changed LO in Costco a couple of times and both me and DH changed him in a family bathroom at the mall with no issues. I didn't try to do it in the car so far.
  • Ooh disposable changing pads.. Those I may invest in. My diaper bag does have a fold out changing pad but it still kinda grosses me out folding that back up into the bag after being on the changing surface. But disposables I will look into.
  • I was gifted the disposable changing pads and they are great! Even for at home when you have a huge mess... Then you don't get the linen dirty.
  • You could always grab a couple of the toilet seat covers and lay those down under the foldable changing pad to keep it off the surface.
That said, there are plenty of things that my 4 year old does that gross me out way more than public changing tables so at some point I think you just sortof get over it or you will drive yourself crazy.

  • Not many places have those toilet seat covers. That said, I'm not driving myself crazy I just didn't know if people had other suggestions, which they did. I'd much rather bring her to my car and change her there than put her on a changing space that I'm sure gets cleaned once a week. I'll deal with the other grossness when it comes.
  • I typically just use the changing pad that comes with my diaper bag. I keep everything pretty sanitized as it is so I just re clean everything once I get home. It's getting pretty cold and I'd rather change him in the store or restaurant than take him outside in the cold to my also cold car and get him undressed and changed. That being said I used to change him in my car and I still do if I'm on a road trip and my car is already warmed up.
  • Ditto others- I always use my fold out changing. I sometimes use a wipe to clean it off if I thing it is especially bad. But travel Lysol wipes are a good idea. I might get those.
  • The trunk of my Jeep.
  • I bought some puppy training pads & seriously will always gift them at baby showers. It's so easy to just pack one up, then throw it away. I even use them on my bed for nighttime changes because my LO loves to potty while being changed. After baths I'll even let her lay on it on the bed naked & "dry out" a bit. I know I would hate to be in a sealed diaper all day. It has saved me from having to wash my bedding SO many times. Cannot rave enough about puppy training pads lol.
