1st Trimester

Showing or bloating?

Hi all mommies to be!!! my hubby and I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now.... and when we were finally ready to give up and try some other ways to have a baby, we got the best new of our lives. WE'RE PREGNANT!!! Now I haven't gotten my first ultrasound just yet (it is scheduled for the beginning of January) and though we're thinking i'm only about 5 weeks along there is a chance I am as far as 8/9 weeks, so we shall see. Regardless from everything I've read you shouldn't be showing at all until later than both of those weeks. I already had to get maternity pants because literally NONE of my pants fit me. Today another pregnant woman, who I have never met, came up to me and asked how far along I am! So I am clearly either completely bloated or am starting to show crazy early! Has anyone else had this happen?

  • @stripes11 just started a thread on this also, "showing at 4 wks"
It's bloat bloat and more bloat :) I'm 7 wks and I've resorted to putting a hair tie around my pants button and wearing looser tops for the past two weeks due to it - it comes and goes throughout the day.

I was bloated on and off until 12 weeks then it chilled out thankfully. Then at 16/17 weeks I started to show finally. Everybody is different but the fetus is too small to cause you to show this early
  • If you're still in the first tri, there's no chance your "showing". Not unless you've got like 10 babies in there.
  • Yeah you're probably bloated. I've noticed that when I stand certain ways it's more or less obvious. Good posture makes it a little easier to hide the blump.

  • Blump (aka bloat bump). You will not start showing until a minimum of 12
  • This is my second pregnancy... I didn't show until 22+ weeks. This time around I'm about 5 weeks and I feel as bloated as 5 months!!! Truth it is bloat from the quick slowdown in the GI tract. If you had a pooch before the bloat will definitely enhance it.

  • Definitely bloat. Your uterus isn't even above your pelvic bone this early. Bloat is a real PIA though. Definitely feeling the struggle.

  • Bloating. I didn't have a noticeable showing baby bump until 3rd tri.
  • Another vote for bloat
