  • Is a free birth what you crazy Canadians call it? Here in the US, it's a pretty expensive birth.

    OP, just like most of the ladies here already mentioned, go seek the help of a medical professional and not from complete strangers on the Internet.

    Not lumping all the Canadians together. I had no idea what free birth was. Just making a healthcare cost joke. If I'd known free birth really was such a crazy and dangerous thing I wouldn't have called Canadians crazy.

    OP, please get yourself to a doctor!!!!

  • Even if you wish to have no interventions at birth, you should have a health professional you can contact with concerns. You can start with a qualified homebirth midwife. She can help you decide if you need to see a certified nurse midwife or OB.

  • Ditto to PP, when broken down, groups that have less access to prenatal care or choose to forgo it tend to have much higher infant mortality rates, we're talking 3x (or 300% higher) rate of infant mortality.  Get yourself to an OB or Midwife and get yourself checked out.  You can't rely on internet discussion forums for pregnancy related medical questions, that's just not how it works and it isn't fair to the new life you're attempting to bring into this world.

    There are many doctors/midwives who are more than willing to go low intervention with little to no sonograms or interventions during your pregnancy but they can help to make sure the baby is progressing and you and doing all that you need to in order to make a healthy new human.
  • THIS.

    If you want to do a free birth, that includes no medical interventions during and before (am I right)? If that's the case, then the fact that you already have questions about what's normal means you can not and should not be doing a free birth.

    In general I think this is an absolutely terrible idea and I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would ever consider something so irresponsible and dangerous. If you don't care about your own health, fine. But you are carrying another person inside you, and they deserve the best. This means that you should have a trained professional with you when you deliver, be that a midwife or an OB, be it at home, or the hospital.

    Get thee to a midwife, STAT.

    @reneefrench

    I am hoping we are all misinterpriting what you mean by free birth because it does not sound like it is a good idea for you AT ALL.
