Craniosynostosis Diagnosis

Today my LO was diagnosed with craniosynostosis.  He is almost 16 weeks old.  Our pediatrician said it's a mild case and he is going to contact an Pediatric Neurosurgeon to read him the CT results and see what we need to do exactly.  Possibly go right away for a consult vs. waiting a month or so to see how he progresses.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  From what I've read, we should definitely be going to see a specialist and are most likely looking at surgery.  Any information would be very helpful! Thanks!

Re: Craniosynostosis Diagnosis

  • My neighbors' son had this, I know he was older than 16 weeks but I can't remember how old. They didn't need to do anything and he's fine. I worked with a woman who's son was born with it and he needed surgery later on and now he's fine. I know it's hard to wait on answers but hang in there. If pedi said it's a mild case your son may not need anything except to be monitored by specialist. I hope you get good news soon.
