Boobs

Hi ladies,
I'm going a little nuts over here trying to find a maternity or nursing bra. I was hoping to get nursing to kill two birds with one stone so I know I'll have to have room to grow into still, but I'm having trouble with the s/m/l bras because my waist is small but my cup size is big.
I've been in stores and ordered offline twice to no avail. The girls are currently smooshed into my pre-preg bra and extremely uncomfortable in their booby prisons! Any store or bra recommendations?

Re: Boobs

  • I really like Bravado nursing bras. Super comfy, come in a huge range of sizes.

  • ^ that's what I was going to say. The Body Silk ones are fab and don't give you a uniboob.
  • I like the cake brand. They have them at Nordstrom
  • I don't know if it would be worth buying nursing bras yet...unfortunately you'll get more than just a little bigger than what you are now if you nurse. When you say your waist is small, do you mean your rib cage? That might also get larger. I went out and bought a bra for my expanding rib cage just the other day. But I'm going to wait on nursing bras. (And also hope I can squeeze into some old ones when he time comes.)
  • The Jessica Simpson brand at Motherhood is pretty comfy. I just bought one a few weeks ago because I have already grown three full cup sizes. (and yes, I'm terrified of how big they will be when milk comes in!)
  • Thank you all for you responses. My friend loved the Jessica Simpson brand and the two other brands mentioned look good, too.

@june2016baby, yes, I mean my rib-cage is small, so size large is usually too big around and size small is usually too small in cup. I know they'll likely grow even more when nursing but I absolutely hate spending money on bras!
  • My favorite last time was a Bravado. I tried on probably 30 nursing bras at a local boutique and it was the best fit for me. In my opinion nursing bras (or at least mine) do nothing for your figure, what's comfortable now probably won't be comfortable after LO is born and with two in rotation mine only lasted about 5 months before stretching out too much and really doing nothing for me. I know a lot of sources suggest buying nursing bras now to save on money later but I'd be surprised if a bra you bought now still worked for you in June. I'd get what ever bra you usually wear, up a cup size and reasses in April.

The S/M/L is great when you're breastfeeding because your cup size can be two cups different between the morning and evening. Not an issue you run into when you're pregnant!

  • When you do buy nursing bras, buy at
least one with some padding to hide leaks. I know that they make absorbent pads for leaks, but whenever I wore a non-padded nursing bra, you could see the outline of those nursing pads through my shirts. They're circular, so it kinda looked like I had super huge nipples or something. But a padded nursing bra solved that problem.

SO true!!  Any recommendations for padded nursing bras?  This is my third, and I nursed for a long time, but it's been so long that I forget everything...

@gray51015 - I hear ya girl! I was between c-d when I got pregnant, have lost 15 pounds due to horrific MS and yet am now a ddd. I don't even wanna think about them when nursing.
  • P4L - I'm about to burst out of my prepreg bra and will need this threads advice later:)
  • Thanks for the advice, everyone! Oh, the joys of pregnancy!
  • Just got a dd bra today and I feel great!!! The girls are happy- I'm happy. Getting a new bra is like doing yoga, for your boobs. Seriously, best decision ever. I know they're going to keep growing, but I'm happy I stopped having that Quattro-boob going on at least for a little bit. Total boost of confidence, among other things, haha. ☺️
