I was worried about this happening. All week i have the sweet sound of the babies heartbeat. No luck yesterday which i didnt stress about. But again this morning no luck. Logically i know its fine. I am only 11 weeks(so very early and tiny little peanut), but i can't help my heart from fear. Pgal is still scarey! Side note we saw the baby last week and it was perfect. no real point to this other than a vent
I find I have better luck with finding the heartbeat if I have a full bladder and have just eaten. Sometimes I will drink a juice box if I can't find it too. Usually works. But yes, you can't let yourself worry if you don't find it!
I go back to the dr Jan 4. I was just in last Thursday for a ultrasound (our second). I have better luck at night with empty bladder. I should note the last few days i was constipated and finally got some relief today so maybe that will help. I am really not overly worried
I'm sorry I'm sure that is stressful! I really love the idea of having a doppler to be able to check in whenever I want but this is the reason I haven decided not to get one... you seem to be very logical about it which is wonderful, I can make myself anxious over anything so I wouldn't be able to handle any uncertainty. Fx everything is wonderful with baby and you can hear the heartbeat tonight!!
@MsBeachNJ i am trying very hard to stay logical... or i would drive myself crazy. I would say having the doppler has helped me. Hearing the heart beat every night since last fridat has been so helpful at keeping me calm.
I definitely decided against a doppler for this reason..just don't need the stress. I think I would become neurotic and would start checking all the time!
My husband is always wanting to use the Doppler, and I won't let him for this very reason! If your appointment was closer, I'd say just put it away. But waiting until January would drive you crazy, I'm thinking. Good-luck, and I'm confident you'll find it soon...I like the juice suggestion.
That happened to me around the same time! I found it every morning for a week then all of a sudden I couldn't for a few days. It freaked me out a little bit too. I'm trying to break the habit of checking every morning. Even though it only takes about 30 seconds I've gotten way to dependent on it. It's so hard- especially when you've got a history of MC.
I have tried with mine several times and no success so far. I think I almost had it last week. I assume my inability to operate the dang thing is the issue. Just saw baby is ultrasound as week for the third time and all is well. Glad you found baby! They do really like to hide. Even my OB had a hard time finding it last week. My extra fluff in the area probably doesn't help.
I stressed myself out over this, only to see a happy healthy looking jumping bean at our NT scan. I haven't pulled it out since. Step awaaaaay from the doppler!
We just had our first appointment today (11 weeks ) and our midwife had trouble finding our little peanut. S/he was moving around so much, she has to chase it for a few minutes. Got a solid beat for a few seconds and it wiggled away. I would try not to worry
I love my Doppler. I use it every few nights and really enjoy it, but I know and accept I won't always be able to find baby. There were about 4 days around 11 wks I couldn't find it, but didn't stress. Just kept trying tiny changes in position and angle of the wand until I found it again. Even now at 12+6 I have to hold it in one place angled very specifically to hear it. Definitely recommend not using it if folks get stressed, but it sounds like you were calm OP. It's all about recognizing the limits of the technology are at fault, not the LO who's probably just dandy. Glad you found it again so quickly!
My RN friend offered hers to me to borrow but I politely declined since the thought of this happening to me terrifies me! Three nurses and then my OB couldn't find the HB at 10.5 weeks which ended in US, and the nurse had to feel around forever to find it yesterday at 14.5 weeks. I know I wouldn't be able to find it. I'm glad you managed to find it tonight though! What a relief!! Yay to being close to feeling our babies move consistently and not having to worry about HB's.
I just got back from my 12 week appointment, all went well but we didn't get a sonogram today (we have our specialist appointment on Thursday so they said they'd do an ultrasound then for the NT testing). Disappointing I didn't get to see our bean but she did say she'd try the doppler to hear for a heartbeat... it took a while but she finally found it! Said it was around 160! That was my first Doppler experience and I gotta say that I wouldn't want to try that at home by myself, I was so nervous with her doing it for a few minutes not finding anything, and when she found it I would say it was hard for me to decipher so I would make myself a nervous wreck at home! Props to all you ladies able to do it on your own at home!!
@MsBeachNJ Sorry You Didnt Get To See the baby! But yay for the heartbeat!! I am not going to check in the mornings anymore bc thats when i have the hardest time. Overall it has brought me more peace than anything else! But it def takes patience and practice
