Can't sleep without a blanket..

Hello ladies. My LO can't, and won't fall asleep without a blanket near his face. I've tried sleep sacks, swaddle blankets wrapped around his body, because he has to have his arms out to play with his hair but nothing works, so I end up giving him a blanket until his asleep, and I stay up until he is and then go in and take it away. Then he doesn't sleep as long and it goes on all night. How can I get him to fall asleep with out a blanket? I know it's not safe, that's why I stay up and watch the monitor and take it out when he's asleep. I don't know what to do?

  • My first was like this and after we stopped swaddling her, I left an Aden and Anis muslin blanket in there with her. They are thing, so even across the face are breathable. To this day (at nearly 5) she keeps one up at her face every night.

I've gotta say, I've got 3 kids, my first 2 are 18 & 8, this wasn't a thing when they were kids. They are alive, i know that's not the popular response, but my oldest was a face sleeper, not just a tummy sleeper but a FACE sleeper (like his mama), and at the time, nobody was saying that wasn't ok, he's still kicking. My 3 month old is the same way, i wrap one around his feet and tuck it under his body. He is right next to my bed in a bassinet and he pulls it up and holds it against his cheeks, i watch him, pull it back down, he rustles around, pulls it back up. I've tried taking it away, same results, he won't sleep. I'm fine with it while he's next to me, but when i move him into his crib, i'm looking for alternatives, u can always get a blanket that will tuck tightly between the crib mattress and the crib and keep it low away from his face. Just be sure its a loose knit type blanket with lots of holes. If you're a heavy sleeper keep him near you.
I know the rules A.B.C., i watched the video required by the hospital before I left. I never intentionally left the blanket sometimes he was wrapped in it while i was holding him and would put him down and he'd wake as soon as i unwrapped him.

I'm looking into these for when we move him to his crib. No hands means no pulling it up to the face... zippadee zips

Also my son is training to be a kickboxer at 3 months old and those muslin wraps were a joke to him. He laughed in the face of being locked down as he fought his way out and declared victory in his nakedness
  • We sleep with blankets ..
The one on tummy is nap time
