Emotional Momma

We decided to make the switch to a "big girl bed" this week. This is the second time we have attempted this transition (the first time this summer a was huge fail), but so far so good!

Tonight though, my daughter saw her crib on the way to her bedroom and burst into tears saying, "Dorothy's bed! Dorothy's bed!" Talk about breaking my heart! Ugh. My baby isn't the baby anymore!

We're starting all of these transitions well before the new baby arrives, but I can't help but feel guilty. She's only two, and doesn't understand what's about to happen in our family - and the last thing I want is for her to have any feelings of replacement. I realize this is all normal, and it will all be fine, but anyone else feeling like an emotional momma tonight? Toddlers pulling at your heartstrings?

I get it  it was easy to transition my oldest (4) because we were renting a small 2 bedroom apartment so the toddler bed and crib were in the same room. I was still sad to not pick her up out of her crib every morning, but at least she was in her room still. We've since bought a house, but the 4th bedroom is in our finished basement. Eventually the oldest will move down there, but for now our 2 year old and 4 year old are sharing a room. I've had the door closed to the "baby's" room and I just had to go in for something today. My 2 year old followed me in and demanded to be put in the crib. I sat and cried for a minute thinking about how we will have to paint over her name and take down the decorations. I know I'll be happy when the baby is here, but it's still hard.
