  • How far along are you? 5w6d

How are you feeling? Physically, good. Emotionally, nervous.

Doing anything baby related today? I don't think so

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: DH is having some anxiety (happens pretty severely every 6 months-1 year for him, and it started before we knew I was KU). We've dealt with it before, but I don't feel like we deal with it very well, and I am finding it hard to be as sympathetic to him--I don't have anxiety issues, so I don't always understand what it's like, and hearing him vent is just stressing me out, which is not good for baby! I wish he would just get over it, but I know that is not how it works. Positive vibes to the spotting ladies--I feel you today (see question below).

Questions? Has anyone experienced spotting after intercourse? From what I read, this is pretty normal, but it is making me anxious. I think I'll put sex on hold until after my appointment/ultrasound. Sorry, DH! I'm not in a very sexy headspace anyway.

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)?  We're telling our parents around Christmas so we can tell them in person (not telling them ON Christmas because we don't want to tell the whole family yet). I had a girls night last night and talked to one of my best friends Sunday, and it was really hard not to tell! But I want to see the first u/s and know everything is ok before spreading the word. DH told his boss because he wanted to get the day off to come to my 1st appt with me, so he says I can tell someone (he did not tell me before he told his boss!), but I am trying to hold out. I might tell my cousin, who is pregnant with her 2nd right now, if I need more support. So, after our first appt, we'll probably tell our close friends, and announce to everyone after the 1st trimester. (Have a Facebook post all planned!)

How are you feeling? Pretty good! Minor nausea here and there, occasional super mild cramping, and I'm super thirsty.

Doing anything baby related today? Scheduled my first appointment for 12/30! I should be 7w2d then.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I'm still in shock that I have a BFP after 11 months of trying and losing hope.

    Questions? None right now

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)?

I've already told 2 of my closest coworkers that I've been giving updates during TTC, and we're telling our parents at Christmas - still need to think of cute ideas! My boss and other members of my group will find out by next Friday, since we have an inventory count and I don't want to have to do too much picking up/bending/twisting. Everyone else will find out after 12 weeks sometime.
  • How far along are you? 4w4d

How are you feeling?  Just so freaking tired

Doing anything baby related today?  Nope!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I don't even have the energy to rant or rave today, but positive vibes to everyone!

Questions? How are you all dealing with this fatigue?! This limited caffeine is kicking my ass.

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)?  Our moms know and some of my siblings.  My sister is due in July, but lives across the country.  It'll still be fun to sort of go through this at the same time even if it is long distance. My boss asked me today.  I've been working with her closely for 7 years, some of which we shared the same office, so she's pretty in tune with my normal.  I guess it's hard to hide when I'm crying over a puppy someone brought into the office and my boobs have doubled in size... I still need to tell a few close friends and the rest of family, but I'm waiting until after the ultrasound on the 7th when I see that little heart beating.

    How are you feeling?
I feel pretty great! Just woke up from some horribly Vivid nightmares though, just started a new discussion about it.

    Doing anything baby related today?
    Nope!

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I'm so worried about having nightmares again. Going to try meditation tonight before bed to see if that helps.

    Questions?
    Not at the moment!

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)?
So far the announcements have been staggered by who I have seen in person. I can't keep a secret and most of these people knew I was TTC anyway. Telling the rest of the family on Christmas! :)
  • @cait5413  I've never experienced it during pregnancy, but last month while ttc I did twice consecutively.  I do think it's normal during pregnancy with hormones and cervical changes, but you can always call and talk to a nurse at your OB's office if you're worried!  There are also other ways to get sexy that don't involve intercourse, so you don't have to rule out pleasure completely if you're worried! Pregnancy orgasms are the best.

    How are you feeling?
    Good.
    Doing anything baby related today?
    Nope.
    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
DH's dad is in the hospital, hoping we get a positive report this morning from the nurses.
    Questions?
    Nope.
GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)?
May tell my best friend soon. Plan to tell my mom when we open Christmas presents over Skype. She'll be opening this: Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Still have to find a present for my dad and stepmom to open in person on Christmas.  I'll be telling them early (7 weeks) but want to be able to do it over the holidays, even before my ultrasound. Will not tell work or others until after 12 weeks.

  • @cait5413 I've read that it's very common, although I haven't experienced it myself.

@sweettart85 I take any chance I get to just close my eyes or lay down. I've resorted to laying on the floor while DS plays rather than doing my usual chores. DH is just going to have to pick up a little more slack this time around.

How far along are you? 5weeks

How are you feeling? A little queasy today and last night.

Doing anything baby related today? Nope

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: My doctor called me last night and said my beta's and progesterone look great (yay!), but I am still so anxious. I just want to get to my first ultrasound so I can at least see a heartbeat. I think that will put me a bit more at ease.

Also, I'm so jealous of everyone's DH's excitement and enthusiasm. Mine was that way with our first, and he's definitely excited but he's so much more uninvolved this time around. He asked me last night if I wanted a glass of wine and it took multiple prompts for him to realize why I was saying no! I know it's unintentional so I talked with him about it this morning and he's going to make more of an effort. Any other second time mom's experiencing this?

Questions? Just the one about DH above.

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)?
We told my Mom because I tell her everything, and my brother and sister-in-law because she is three weeks ahead of me and we both suffered losses this past year. She was an incredible support so I know she'll be helpful to talk through all of the anxiety with. I want to wait until the first ultrasound to tell the rest of our immediate family, and a few close friends. Then we will do a bigger announcement after the first trimester.

    How are you feeling? Great

Doing anything baby related today? I peed on my last cheapie. I love seeing those 2 lines!

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: nope

    Questions? nope

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)? I've told my sis and bff. Waiting till Christmas to tell my parents.
  • How far along are you? 4w 4 d

How are you feeling? Crampy, heartburn!

Doing anything baby related today? Ordered a shirt for my niece as a way to announce to my family. (I think I convinced DH to let me tell them at Christmas!)

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: starting to get really excited!

Questions? Not pregnancy related, but I miss the daily threads from TTGP like "WTF Wednesday" and "flame free Friday confessions". Any ideas for what threads we can start here so I don't have to lurk so much?

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)? I just bought a shirt for my niece (she's the only grandchild) that says "my aunt has a cousin in the oven". I'm giving it to her at Christmas when my parents are there. We are telling our in laws at Christmas too with an ornament that says "santa's not the only one coming to town". Still waiting and brainstorming to tell everyone else.
  • How far along are you? 5w4d

How are you feeling? Morning sickness kicked in two days ago (on and off all day), so there's that... Very tired most days and my chest is even bigger now and hurting again. But other than that, feeling great. And I'm grateful for every symptom even when I'm miserable.

Doing anything baby related today? Called the doctor to get some anti nausea meds since I need to be able to work, and was told my blood tests came back with great levels for both hcg and progesterone- yay!!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: so many positive vibes as we all get closer to our first ultrasounds!!!

    Questions? Not currently.

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)? Already told our parents since we want the support again if we suffer another loss. Other than that only my sister, his brother, my best friend, and my boss currently know. We're waiting until probably Valentine's day to tell everyone else this time.

  • How far along are you? Five weeks today!

How are you feeling? SO tired, with a little bit of an upset stomach.

Doing anything baby-related today? Not that I have planned!

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I still can't believe I'm pregnant!

Questions? For BTDT moms, when is a good time to start looking at what to buy for the baby? And how do you even go about doing that?

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)? We're telling our parents and my brother on Christmas (My sister and brother-in-law will already know by then... they're going to help us surprise our parents!). That's the only thing my husband and I agree on. As for everybody else, I really want to wait and tell extended family and friends until after our first ultrasound, but my I'm afraid my MIL is going to disregard that and tell her whole family right away. (She's not a bad person; she's just a talker and is a pretty bad secret-keeper. And her first grandchild is a pretty big secret to keep!) I think my husband wants to give them the go-ahead to tell everyone right away, but I don't even feel pregnant, even though I know I am. It definitely hasn't sunken in yet, so I really want to have the ultrasound first and it isn't even scheduled. I also want to wait to put anything on social media until the second trimester, but my husband just wants to tell everyone ASAP. He's bursting! (Which is great, but I'm just not bursting yet, even if I am excited.)

    Sorry for the mini-essay!

  • How far along are you? 6 weeks (I'll find out exactly next Tues!)

How are you feeling? Sea sick( no vomitting thank god!) Emotional too!

Rant/rave, positive vibes? I'm feeling positive at this point, I think I'll be able to relax a little more after the scan.

Doing anything baby related today? On dr Google asking a ton of pregnancy related questions:) oh and followed some pregnant fashion bloggers on Instagram.

Questions? Can you eat Philadelphia cheese?

How are you planning to tell? We're just going to to tell close family at Christmas as we'll be close to 8 weeks by then (I think)
  • How far along are you? 4 weeks today!

How are you feeling? Cramps, but it feels like it could be intestinal instead of uterine, it's hard to tell. Still really bloated and really tired. Also, insatiable hunger and thirst.

Doing anything baby related today? Nope. I may start looking at baby clothes and other baby items on the Internet though. I've been trying to hold off since it's still really early in the pregnancy and I'm afraid to get too involved. But Google is calling me!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I'm just really excited to be here. I can't stop POAS, which I know I should stop doing soon. Last night I used a FRER since I had it here anyway, and the test line showed up before the control line and after less than a minute, the test line was significantly darker than the control line. So I'm trying to allow myself to relax now.

    Questions? Not today.

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)? I've already spilled the beans to my parents. I just couldn't wait. I called them the day I got my BFP. But on Christmas DH's dad and stepmom is coming to my parents house for the holiday. We're going to skype DH's mom and stepdad at the same time (they live in another state) and we're going to have them all open a Christmas present at the same time. The present will be picture frames that say grandparents on it and in the frame will say, "August 2016." We'll probably tell the extended family closer to the end of the first trimester. I'm still paranoid about having another loss so I don't want too many people to know just yet.
  • How far along are you? Still unknown but guessing 6 weeks.  Come on, ultrasound!

How are you feeling? Starving but threw out my salad because I felt the lettuce was off.  I know it was fine.

Doing anything baby related today?  Not yet!  Just my check-in.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  Positive vibes to everyone!  Happy Wednesday!!

    Questions?  None today.

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)?  I have told a few of my close friends.  Waiting to surprise a few others.  We are going to tell our families at Christmas!  So excited.  I wanted to wait to tell everyone at 12 weeks but I couldn't pass up the holiday.  After that, my boss and work buddies will find out and all of my friends.  So excited!  I get more excited every day about it.

  • How far along are you? 5w3d

Doing anything baby related today? Nope.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Just positive vibes to everyone! For all those that are having fears, please know you're not alone and that a lot of us can empathize with you!

Questions? How can 1 week take so dang long...6 days until u/s.

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)? Our parents all know because of having IVF, so I get asked immediately if it worked. But, we are waiting for the rest of the family and DS for a while, no plans yet.

  • How far along are you? 4w/1d

How are you feeling? Pretty good. Nauseous, boobs are sore and averse to pretty much all food but truthfully I'm grateful to feel this way.

Doing anything baby related today? Made my first ob/gyn and U/S appointment - Jan 11. Feels like a world away but I'd rather go in later to see more. Just gotta figure out a way to relax between now and then!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Trying to feel positive and mostly succeeding! I keep forgetting for a minute that I'm actually KU, then I remember and just smile to myself. It's like a little secret and that's fun. It's also scary but I'm grateful for every minute. We haven't and won't tell anyone for a while, so DH is getting the full recap from me of every little symptom, question and fear...poor guy.

Questions? How did you guys stay sane during the lead up to your first appointment? I'm already counting the days.

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)? I'd like to tell our parents in person when we're further along...no crazy presents or announcement strategies, just telling them and probably crying a lot. Can't wait to tell my grandparents too. Beyond that, will tell our close friends and just let word spread. We're not big over-sharers on social media so I can't see us doing that.

How are you feeling? Good! Just tired and thirsty, none of which I'm positive are pregnancy related.

Doing anything baby related today? DH and I had our pre-natal consultation so things are starting to feel real! We also scheduled our first U/S for Jan 7. 4 weeks cannot pass quickly enough!!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Positive thoughts to everyone!

    Questions?

GTKY - How are you planning to tell? Are you staggering your announcements (e.g., just grandparents at first)? Due to our unique circumstances (finding out I was pregnant in the hospital getting prepped for shoulder surgery) everyone pretty much already knows which is not what I wanted. But our family was very concerned about my surgery and we didn't have the heart to lie to them when they kept checking in.

Scheduled my first US appointment for 12/22 - less than 2 weeks away!  I will be 7w5d at the US so hoping it is early enough to see a heartbeat so I can feel a lot more confident in telling family at Christmas time!
    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
Just excited / nervous / can't believe this is actually happening.  After trying for 6 or 7 months, and thinking many times that this would happen and it didn't - this is the one month I truly didn't think it would happen.  We didn't even try a lot, and I thought the one time we did try would be too early.  So weird!
    Questions?
GTKY - How are you planning to tell?

Have already told best friends that knew about my prior MC, and grateful to have someone to talk to.  Husband has not told anyone yet. He is more cautious than me! Planning on telling parents at Christmas in person, and then everyone else once 1st trimester passes.  It will be difficult, as I'm normally a BIG DRINKER (shameful but true) and everyone is already asking questions / jumping to conclusions. I'm trying to avoid social events, but the silly season is really a difficult time to avoid alcohol events.  This weekend I'm going to employ the order an alcoholic drink & pretend to drink it method, as last weekend the vodka/soda actually a soda method backfired, as did the I'm just not drinking tonight method. Damn my alcoholic past behavior!

  • @Cait5413 Anxiety can be difficult to deal with for everyone involved and I always say it's contagious.  Does he see a counselor?  Maybe you can attend a session to help with the communication?  If not and this is happening in cycles he probably should consider it to help decrease his triggers.
And I think spotting is common after intercourse- especially during pregnancy because of the increased blood flow to that area.

@Mimihatesyou LOL Yeah, the bloat is for real, somehow I'm still the same weight but I feel huge!

We bought a bib for DH's father and he opened it on his 60th birthday, he didn't get it at first but then was so excited, his wife is as well and they live the closest to us so that will be nice.
I told my mom on Saturday, we went out to lunch and I had her open an early Christmas present, she thought that was nice but didn't think anything of it until she opened it and it was a onesie that said Best Christmas Ever and she was so excited, shocked, started crying which is highly out of character for her ;)
We sent my MIL a bracelet for her birthday that said Grandmother and had her open it on the phone last night because she couldn't figure out Skype.  I thought she would be the most excited and was less than enthusiastic but said, "That's great..."  a few times.  Then asked us for a large sum of money via a text to DH today... so.. yeah.. I'm thrilled about that..
I want to have my dad open an ornament at Christmas with my brother and sister (and her family) there but I don't know if I can wait that long and my sister's in laws may be there so maybe I should have something at my house for Christmas Eve or something...

  • @Merocket59, my doctor told me I was absolutely clear to fly in the first trimester. She hasn't seen me yet but I don't have any "obvious" high risk conditions so she cleared me. A lot of doctors are fine with flying up until the third trimester, and many will okay it up to week 35 even.

I'm actually flying tonight. I was advised to bring saltines or ginger ale in case I get MS on the flight, but I haven't had anything bad yet so it would just be extremely bad luck for it to hit me somewhere on the 2 hour flight! And if it's a longer flight, to keep getting up and/or stretching your legs to prevent blood clots.
