Twins sharing the same room?

Hi Everyone!

Just want to take a moment to introduce myself.  I have a 2.5 yo DS and 5 month old B/G twins. I am generally a lurker and to be honest, don't get on The Bump much with 3 under 3. I wanted to find out what other multiple moms are doing regarding their sleeping situation. Currently, our twins share a bedroom and I actually sleep in their room with them.  They tend to wake each other up a lot (which is to be expected) especially during naps.  We will eventually put them in their own rooms once we move into a larger house but separating them now isn't an option. How did you manage them disturbing each other when sleeping?  Did you ride it out and they are now able to sleep in the same room?

TIA!

Re: Twins sharing the same room?

  • My almost 2 year old twins have always shared a room. Naptime scan get a little silly, but they actually sleep better at night than my first did. I think it comforts them to have each other in the same room at night.

  • I had never considered them not sharing a room for a while. We're having B/G twins too, and for the first little bit they will stay in our room in the rock n plays or pack n play together. After that they will probably share a crib and a room for a bit. At some point I'll split them up because of gender and we have other kids in the house that they could share with, but I didn't considered them keeping each other up. Maybe just wait it out?

  • My boys are in the same room, and they still do wake each other up sometimes. For a while when they were little we actually put one of those baby gate/ fence things across their room to keep them separated. W/ out it they would just jump on each other and wrestle. Now days they do a lot better, and usually a threat of putting "the hook" on their door is enough to keep them quiet.
This is "the hook", greatest invention ever...

  • My 9 month twin boys have always shared a room. Sure sometimes they wake each other up, but it's pretty rare. I think they just get used to it over time. I mean, they've always been near each other so it must be a comfort. :)
  • They will get used to each other over time. They say if you plan on sleep training eventually, to sleep train them together. My boys have always been in the same room and almost always sleep through each others crying. They are 2 now and I separate them for nap but only because they like to just play.

  • My 3.5 year old b/g twins have always shared a room.  While getting to sleep has been a problem in the past, staying asleep has not.  They somehow have always slept through the noises of the other.
I don't plan on separating them until I have to.  Neither wants to sleep without the other.  Updated pic of the since my profile picture refuses to change.

  • I have 10 week old b/g twins. They've been in side by side cribs sharing a room since birth. They tend to sleep through each other's crying, and we usually have to wake up whichever is sleeping to keep them on the same schedule!
