Slower Heartbeat

At 10w my internal ultrasound showed a heartbeat of 163. Today st 14w2d, the doctor used to the Doppler to check heartbeat. At first he couldn't find it so I was dying. Then he finally found it and it was 135. Of course I freaked out. He said that it was good. Just depends on activity level and the baby is probably sleeping. Needless to say, I'll be worrying until my next ultrasound in January. Has anyone else experienced this?

    After the heartbeat reaches its peak of rising it starts to fall into a more normal for baby range. It sounds like what you're going through is exactly what's supposed to happen. The dr would tell you if there was a problem.

    Normal at that point is anywhere from 120-180, I think. Just like adults, a heart rate is not going to be a constant rate at all times. 135 is perfectly normal, and you likely just caught a sleepy, more developed baby as PP said.

    My baby started at 182... Went down to 172 then a week and a half later was at 154... When I went to my dr last week she said 139. She's not concerned she said it won't stay high forever as long as it is in the 120-160 range i should be good!

    Mine dropped from 165 to 140.  You are totally normal!!  Relax, I promise!

    Yup! Totally normal. I had a rate of 165 at my first appointment at 9w, then it was 150 at my NT scan at 12w, 140 today at my 14w visit.

    As other PPs have noted, fetal heart rate varies by a lot of factors (like the activity of the fetus at the time of measurement), but it also peaks at about 170 at 9-10 weeks and then gradually falls after that.

    Thank you all very much for the responses. I feel much better now. I was joking during that time that'd I'd wiggle around some to see if I could wake it lol All we need now is for a negative CF test from my SO and I'll calm down. Should be any day now!

    Def normal! I had the same thing happen but the opposite way around. Mine was 186 at 8 weeks and 10 weeks and Google told me AWFUL things. I went yesterday and it was 140-150's I asked if this was normal and she said "we are happy with anything between 120-160 at 15 weeks". You're good!
