Need advice regarding doctor!

Hey all, I just found out I am pregnant. I tested positive Friday, Saturday and Monday lol. I have a gynecologist but she isn't an ob. So I called my insurance and they provided me with a number of an ob practice close to my home. I have a son who is 9 and a half, so I am out of the loop lol. When I called the ob, they did the typical questions. My EDD according to my period is August 11, 2016 so I am 4 weeks and 6 days. Well the receptionist said they are booked until January 22, but they will want to see me sonner. Since I am a new pregnancy/patient, she sent a note to the doctors. I haven't heard anything back yet. I am not sure if I should panic, find another ob, call back, or wait. Like I said my son is 9 and a half so I don't remember alot, but I knew when I first found out with him, they made me an appointment on that call within within 2 weeks. Please help

I recently moved an hour and a half away from my previous OB/GYN practice that I loved. So I had to find a new OB in my area. I took some recommendations from acquaintances and called on Monday, I'm 5 weeks today. They scheduled me for Jan 5th for an US, which will be just shy of my 9 week date. I would look around and see who is near you that has good reviews. Also, if you plan on delivering in a hospital, you may want to choose the hospital first, then find OBs that are associated with it so you know you'll be delivering where you want to. I would definitely say if they don't call back, look elsewhere. I'm sure you'll want to be seen before your almost 11 weeks. Good luck!

  • Keep hounding them!

And if they can't give you one sooner, find another one.

Does your current gynecologist have a partner in his/her practice that does obstetrics as well?
  • ^^ This.  I would call your Gyno and ask her for recommendations.  You can't be the first person in her practice to need an OB.  I would definitely want personal recs, not just whatever the insurance said.
  • I called my OB on a Thursday, sent an email on Friday, called again on Monday and finally got an appointment set Tues--but it's not til Jan 6. My OB doesn't see people til 9-12 weeks. So, I wouldn't freak out too much yet

They do not, but I will be calling them today to get a recommendation, thank you!
