Old stress fracture acting up

Does anybody else have an old stress fracture acting up? I have a spot in my right forefoot that I've fractured twice (running, most recently about 10 months ago) and lately it's been feeling weird/swollen. My best guess is that this is from the hormone that causes all of your joints and stuff to loosen - probably not weight gain yet as I've only gained 4-5 pounds. Whenever I ask my OB she says "well, I'm not an orthopedist..." and when I ask my orthopedist she says "well, I'm not an OB..."

Re: Old stress fracture acting up

  • Not exactly the same, but I have an area around my right arch where I ripped a tendon (twice too, actually) that gets sensitive to weight/tender to the touch when I'm under stress and during pregnancy. It hasn't given me trouble yet this time, but when it does I'll either wrap it, or tape it, and elevate it when it's reasonable to do so. I'd ask your orthopedic how to best wrap it to support your foot. It's definitely a combination of weight, shift in center of gravity, and hormones loosening things that causes these sorts of old injuries to haunt us.

  • I also have a stress fracture I got in hs. It's acted up every one of my pregnancies. Silver lining...back to normal after birth each time. Hoping this time is no different :)
