Idk what the heck happened, but lately I crave all things sugar-filled. Pop, chocolate, sugar cookies, cheesecake, cupcakes, actual candy like Jawbreakers, sour patch kids etc. I feel like a greedy and selfish mother every time I have a pop because I know it's no good for the baby...then I feel even worse when I eat dessert/candy items on top of drinking pop. I am 35w + 3 days and up until I turned 31 weeks I didn't have any sugary cravings. I'm not saying that I didn't eat anything that had sugar in it, I just had more self-control and it was more moderate and I wasn't actually CRAVING to stuff myself with sugary garbage. I feel like I'm losing my self-control over here. Willy Wonka himself probably couldn't satisfy my sugary needs. For 90% of my pregnancy I crave healthy foods like mashed potatoes and steak and chicken and soup etc...actual home cooked meals. Is it normal to become this addicted to sugars at all? It'll be a couple weeks until I see my midwife again so I was just wondering if anyone on here had a similar experience? Any thoughts, tips or tricks to get myself to slow down on the garbage-binge- eating
Re: Craving Sugar Like Crazy!!
Thanks ladies!!
Non-related question to op, we call pop pop where I live and I know a lot of places call it soda, soda-pop, etc. I'm just curious where you're from. I'm in upstate ny.
@paytonpedro I also call it pop and I'm from CO.
@paytonpedro I'm from MO and I call it pop. I'm on the KC side, but friends on the StL side call it soda...
DS2 due 12/12/18
I indulge in popcicles and cookies and cupcakes a lot! Chocolate bars are an every so often type treat but I still crave sugar a lot, Especially late at night! I'll be up around midnight just wanting cupcakes and jello or chocolate or a certain type of pop (which10 minutes later I immediately regret because it fires up the heartburn like crazy!! Ouch!) I talked to my midwife and she said it's OK to let myself indulge every once in a while but I have to make sure I'm eating healthy foods too and trying to keep balance. She says I'm probably craving sugar most likely due to a drop in my blood sugar in which my body will react and cause me to get hungry or crave sweets so I eat. All is good though, baby and I are still perfectly healthy and stable. I still think I could eat Willy Wonka right out of his own factory though lol.
