3rd Trimester

Anybody else not hungry?

So, I'm a FTM, 28 weeks along. I'm finding more and more that I simply can't eat the quantity of food that I used to. I would say I eat about an appetizer's worth (or maybe 1/2 appetizer's worth) of food at any given meal. I'm just not hungry. I'm guessing that this might be because my stomach (and other organs) are getting squished by growing baby. It's so frustrating when I make (or order) a delicious meal and can only eat a small portion of it. Anybody else experience this, or is this unusual and something worth talking to my doctor about?

Just curious. Thanks in advance!

Re: Anybody else not hungry?

  • Normal. There's less room. Eat more smaller meals throughout the day.

  • What she said ^^ I can order a dinner, eat half of it and be stuffed... An hour later, I'll finish it up :)
  • I'm with you. Currently 36 weeks and can't eat more than a few bites at any one time. Just woke up (worked late last night) and made myself a latte (small mug) and now I can't even look at the eggs I made for breakfast. But in an hour or so I'll be hungry again. I think I read once that weight gain tends to stall very close to term for this very reason.

  • same thing is happening to me. however, it's been happening to me since about weeks 21-22. i still feel hungry though, i just simply cant eat anymore due to lack of room. my skin feels like it's going to split down the middle. it really sucks :(
  • I have to graze throughout the day. Usually my meals last me a couple hours.
I made the mistake of trying to eat full meals a couple times and I end up so uncomfortable. I actually had to ask my SO to remind me that I don't have to force myself to finish a plate and take my time/spread out the meal.
  • If I don't eat I get sick but I don't feel like eating most days. I wish I could just have smoothies.

Yeah, unfortunately I still WANT to eat all the things, but am forced to stop due to discomfort. So I compensate by eating smaller amounts in a sitting, but eating ALL FREAKING DAY LONG.

Seriously. I often think, "really kitteh, eating again so soon?" at my own damn self.

Insert LAY OFF ME, I'M STARVING gif here.
  • I was told at the ER last night that I need to eat more carbs. It's a struggle between doing what's best for my baby and not letting my weight get out of control.

  • @DrillSergeantCat I think at this point just do what's best for baby even though gaining weight does suck. But we can lose the weight When babies are out!

I am. I had a carb-laden dinner with apple juice followed by milk and cookies last night. In retrospect, though, the apple juice at night wasn't a great idea since I then had to pee all night.
