Mommy Me Time

I know in early pregnancy there are so many changes, symptoms that are annoying and/or painful, and for a lot of people myself included it's a very anxious and scary time

One thing that has helped is focused me time. Has anyone done anything to treat themselves?

Today I got my first prenatal massage. I haven't been sleeping and my shoulders were such a mess-now I feel like I could sleep for a year lol

I plan to get a prenatal massage every month!

  • I was never able to find a masseuse who would do massages in the first trimester. Where do you guys go?

  • There is a day spa in one of the hospitals here that specializes in pregnancy treatments where I went during my last pregnancy. But, I was planning on going to a normal spa for my first couple. What is the danger during the first trimester?
  • @KJ1416 - Massages release toxins that can be harmful during the 1st Tri. None of places around here do 1st Tri massages either (even prenatal)

I go to a fertility and pregnancy center-every therapist has a medical license and they treat pregnant women at every stage. If a massage is done early it is extremely light and used for relaxation-deep tissue can release toxins because it gets into the muscles. Significant others rub women's shoulders all the time which was essentially what this was

  • JenniferMasters - I wasn't saying yours wasn't appropriate.  I was just answering KJ1416 question about why some won't do them.  I wish I could find one around here!!  Glad it's helping!
  • I am a sucker for acryllics and pedis. My nails tend to suck, whether I'm taking prenatal vitamins or not. I also love to go get massages. I wish I would have gotten them more often with my first pregnancy.

  • Still too early for me to treat myself other than the oreos I had for breakfast yesterday. :X

  • I have been taking fancy baths a few times a week with some meditation music/candles. I figure it will be a good habit to have to also relax during labor or prelabor. Plus it is mostly free.

I get massages once a month for my tendinitis issues. I'll be continuing this to keep up the benefits, help with my inflammation, circulation, etc. My masseuse is comfortable massaging me through my entire pregnancy.
