Mucus Plug Eeek!

So I am currently 32 weeks with my third baby.
Two days ago I started to have some back pain. All lower back and would occasionally radiate to my hip area with a little bit of pressure. I did do a little more walking then normal. My baby has been head down for 2 months now and facing my back. So I figured it was just from her.
Sunday (last night) started to get nauseous and I ended up vomiting. (yuck) Was uncomfortable all day and night.

Woke up today feeling blah but decided those dishes weren't gonna do themselves so I started to wash. While standing there I had a "sensation" of something down there...it was as if I needed to wipe and I got real wet. So I went to the bathroom and wiped a big "glob" of creamy snot like mucus. Only way to describe it. I have had some good cramping all day since but nothing too bad. Back has been aching all day. I was induced with my first two children and never experienced pre term labor, losing my plug, etc...so this is all new to me! I'm assuming since there is no blood I am OK to wait till my appt next week. I guess I'm super nervous being only 32 weeks!

  • Yea you should be just fine :) you can lose your mucus plug and it can just regenerate at that early. Drink water and lay on your left side. I have been going through the exact same and here I am 35 weeks and still kicking :)

  • Probably fine, but please call your doc just in case!!
  • I started loosing mine at 32weeks. I seen to notice small amounts most days. I wouldn't stress. If you are worried contact your doctor.
  • I'm 33 (almost) and haven't lost mine. Weirdly I'm jealous!
  • I lost mine with my first at 36wks. Needles to say I went on to 41wks 4 days with and induction and then C section. I read that it will grow back some.
  • I lost part of mine at 32 weeks and I'm 33 today. I told my doctor at the appointment and she said she's not concerned - just happens sometimes and means your body is progressing so no reason to press the panic button. BUT you do need to tell your OB.
  • I've lost mine much later in all of my pregnancies. It's hands down the GROSSEST thing I have ever experienced.
I've still always had to be induced. So it really wasn't a factor for me. Although those back cramps are more concerning to me at this stage.

  • While you can lose it and it can regenerate, I'd still call the doc to see if they want you to go in. I know my mom had back labor for her pregnancies and just experienced the back pain!
