Yeast infections...

I can't seem to get rid of a yeast infection, I have done the treatment a couple times and it goes and then comes back again :/... Super annoying and at times irritating... Any home remedies you have tried?

Re: Yeast infections...

  • I've had two within 3 weeks and my ob prescribed diflucan. It's only a risk in high doses. He prescribed me a small dose and only one pill. It did the trick though!

  • Diflucan is awesome! One pill and it stays in your system for days and clears it all out within 24 hours with me. Loved it more than the vaginal creams/gels you have to use for days. Of course doctor has to be prescribe it to you. Have you been diagnosed with a yeast infection? Or are you assuming it's one? One time I thought I had a yeast infection at 28 weeks and it ended up being bacterial vaginosis.

  • Thanks ladies... My dr did a swap a few mo this back and it came back yeast. So I did the monistat and I thought it cleared it up, but then a few weeks later it happened again, did the treatment and it's back. My next prenatal is in a week so hoping to wait and will ask again!

Eat a pineapple. PS I only get them if i eat bread, wheat, and meat every day every week. its def dietary, sugars feed the yeast, you might want to try eating veges every day or switch up your food routine, or take a digestive enzyme, or cut sugar out of your diet, or wheat, or try eating an apple every day etc etc
  • I'd try cutting sugar as much as possible, add a probiotic and maybe try a different brand of yeast infection medication.
  • I'd ask for antibiotics

  • One dose of Diflucan should clear it up. Ask your OB.

I don't believe so...My doctors have always given me antibiotics if the OTC stuff didn't work. But then again, mine aren't caught until they've gone full blown to my kidneys because I don't display symptoms..

My brain is mush. I have no idea what I'm thinking. Probably diahhrea.

  • @DrillSergeantCat most antibiotics are known for causing yeast infections. That's what caused my last two. I was first on an antibiotic for a sinus infection and then one for pneumonia and each time I got a yeast infection. But, there is an antibiotic- Diflucan that treats yeast infections. It's wonderful. The dose is only one pill and within 24 hours my symptoms were gone

Ok. I'm not crazy, then. Thanks.

  • To be technical, diflucan is an antifungal not an antibiotic. That is why it treats yeast and other antibiotics make yeast show up by killing off the normal bacteria living in an area so that the yeast then have no competition and get to grow.
  • A couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with 8 ounces of water. Do that a few times a day, for two or three days and it should clear up!
  • It works much more slowly than the anti-fungal drugs, but for prevention (and gradual treatment), try adding cultured yogurt to your diet. It contains the kind of bacteria you need to balance out the yeast. If you eat yogurt regularly, you become a home for the good bacteria and are a lot less likely to get yeast infections.

Note: you need yogurt with "live cultures" or something like that on the label.

A few years ago I had a recurring yeast infection. The regular meds usually work fine for me, but that time the yeast infection kept coming back every few weeks. Out of desperation I tried putting a bit of yogurt directly onto my vagina after reading it could help get the good bacteria there faster. I know it sounds really weird, but it did actually clear things up for me within 3-4 days!
