GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it?

I have a mini fake tree that i do up in a theme every year so it is all matchy matchy. Our big tree however is a real one that we put unique ornaments either collected through our travels, given as gifts, or that signify something special. There are also ones that we just think are cool.

I buy ornaments everywhere we (or at least one of us or a family member) go, the new additions are from Ireland, Rome, Australia. New Orleans, Germany, and Portland Maine. We have a new special one this year with a picture of a dog we lost this year. It has a special place right in the front. I also have a box of ornaments that always goes on the tree first. It is a box of 18 ornaments that my grandmother gave me; there is one for each year until I turned 18. Each year she bought one that had something to do with that year and labeled it. So I have a teenage mutant ninja turtle ornament from 1990, a mini mouse ornament from 1988 because that was my first trip to Disney, etc.

R/R/CS: this is my first month temping, and I'm adding my chart for the first time (hopefully). According to FF I should be O'ing today or tomorrow.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it? I usually go all out with Christmas stuff everywhere, but I'm really not feeling it this year. I haven't even put up a tree yet. When I do, I usually do a woodsy theme with bird and owl ornaments. I have a really cute nest ornament that you put in between the branches. Maybe all this talk about Christmas will put me in the spirit.

Eta: @furbabymom2007 we collect ornaments from our travels as well but I love the 18 ornament idea! It must be so special now to have an ornament representing each year of your childhood.

  • @chellecpa I feel ya there. I also go all out out in the house with decor (to the point where I have to put our normal stuff in boxes for the month). I wasn't really feeling it but had DH get the boxes out right after thanksgiving because I knew he was leaving on a trip. I dug right into them and halfway through was like "ugh I don't wanna do this, we aren't even here for Christmas!". But since the house was already a disaster i went ahead and finished it all.

Now I am glad I did because it makes me smile. I will probably AW some pics once the cleaning comes and sweeps up all the glitter that is coating my floors (I don't know where it all comes from!)

Also, I told DH we were leaving this shit up until like mid January so I can enjoy it lol.

WAYDTGKU: temping, sex EOD, checking CM/CP

R/R/CS: I was pretty crampy last night and am a little again this morning.  I've never had mid-cycle before, so I'm hoping it's just my body's way of adjusting after my mc.  I don't know.  I'm trying not to read too much into it and think about what it could or couldn't mean.  Having a loss really messes with your head.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it?  Our tree is up and has a lot of ornaments that I made as a kid and some that our kids made (I'm a sucker for the handmade, glitter, crooked stuff.  I just love to see how excited the kids get over seeing their stuff on the tree).  We also get an ornament each year representing something big that happened like our wedding/honeymoon, the birth of our two kids, trips... it's a lot of fun to think back about all the fun stuff we've done.
  • @furbabymom2007 I love the idea of ornaments from places you have traveled! DH and I were just decorating our tree this weekend and I was saying to him that I wished we had ornaments from all the places we've been already. That's definitely on my list when we travel from now on!

WAYDTGKU: CM and BD EOD -- *should* be O within next few days but we'll keep this up for a while just in case. I was going to try OPKs this month but then I didn't, and then I felt like it was too late. Ah well

R/R/CS: 2 ill timed work holiday parties this week plus a late night at work, plus a trip this weekend have made this the worst week for a FW! Getting creative because I'm determined to have at least a little bit of good timing despite all of this. But when it really comes down to it, I can't complain because it's all fun things that we're attending, so at least it's a *good* busy week and not a bad one!

GTKY: We just decorated our tree this weekend! We got a super fat, super short tree this year and I just love it, I think it's so cute -- it's got to be just under 5 ft tall. We just have a lot of ornaments that we have collected over the years, and many ornaments from my childhood. I was actually laughing because DH tried to throw an old ornament away (that admittedly looks like it should be trash, lol) and I was like "BUT I MADE THAT WHEN I WAS 5". It's on the tree. In the back. :)

R/R/CS: had some breast tenderness and cramps yesterday. Last cycle that started about 3 days before ovulation and one day before my first positive opk so excited for things to get going but trying not to get my hopes up.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it?
We haven't done a tree for the last couple of years because we've been traveling for Christmas. My favourite decoration tradition is going out to see the lights. My parents used it as a way to keep us from going crazy on Christmas Eve so we would go out late, get drive through hot chocolate and drive around looking for nice light displays. We also spent lots of Christmases in Pasadena and they go lighten crazy so good memories there as well.
  • @ChelleCPA chart looks good. Hope you get a rise over the next few days. Fertility friend's predicted ovulation days are just predictions. They will get smarter as you chart more cycles, but fertility signs are definitely a better predictor of ovulation than the calendar.

Fyi you might get dotted cross hairs this cycle. FF really likes at least one other fertility sign like cm or opk to confirm ovulation. If you temp spike is super obvious it should be ok, but when your pre-o temps are rocky it is sometimes a little bit less confident in giving crosshairs.
  • @0SeaMonkey0 Thank you for all of the feedback! I'm really anxious and excited to see my chart for the whole month. If this isn't my month, then next cycle I'm going to add in OPKs as well.

I've been searching for baby names and pinning nurseries since long before we were TTC, so it feels like I've been waiting forever! I already spend so much time on TB... What's it going to be like in a few months?! Yikes I'm a little crazy!

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated? We get a nice dated (as in the year is incorporated) Christopher Radko ornament each year, so we have those going back to 2006 and we got about 15 ornaments the year DS was born because he was a December baby. The rest is old family ornaments that have been passed down. I supplement with el cheapo Target glass ornaments. Holy long answer, Batman.

R/R/CS:  First month temping....and I'm not sure I'm doing it right.   I always take my temp at the same time (even on the weekends) and 8 days in I've seen some pretty good temp drops (+/- at least .4 multiple times)  is this normal?  Looking at other temp charts on here, the dips in temp seem a lot closer.   Just curious.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it?

We currently have our fake, prelit tree up.   No ornaments or toppers....we just haven't had the time.  It does have a tree skirt though, which I love so it still makes me smile when I look at it. :)

WAYDTGKU: The usual things and saw the RE yesterday.

R/R/CS: So I wanted to give an update about the RE appointment, but I didn't want to start a new thread just for my speshul snowflayking, so this might get a little longer than a normal R/R/CS. Just a little background (and maybe tmi), even though we are only going into our 6th month of TTC, about two years ago, DH got a urinalysis for some other reason, and they found sperm in his urine. This was just his PCP so it's not his area of expertise, but he mentioned that he may have retrograde ejaculation. We never really looked further into it because we weren't thinking about TTC at the time, and it wasn't a problem for him sexually, and it doesn't even seem to happen all of the time. Anyway, now that we are TTC, knowing that this could possibly be a problem, we decided to see someone sooner than later.

So yesterday was the appointment and it was just kind of disappointing/frustrating. Maybe my expectations were too high because it was only the first appointment, so obviously they can't really do anything or even make a plan without knowing more. We basically just talked to the doctor, who I really liked so that was one good thing, and she ordered tests. Now I guess I should have seen this coming, but when I made the appointment they said it didn't matter where I was in my cycle since it was just a consultation. So, having ever-high hopes, I decided to schedule it for after my last cycle ended so that I would be able to cancel if I got a BFP. It never crossed my mind that I would need CD3 testing until @MNturnsVA mentioned it last week, but by that point it was too late to change anything. So yesterday was CD5 so I have almost the longest possible amount of time to wait before I can even go for the tests. She also ordered a SA and urinalysis for DH, but he isn't going to have that done until after Christmas when he has a week off from work since there is now no rush since I can't have my tests done until at least then as well. The good news is that she said she didn't have any reason to believe that I would have blocked tubes, since I had a pregnancy in the past and haven't had any major changes or surgeries. However, she said we can do an HSG if/when I want to but she didn't see it as a priority at this point.

When we were leaving, DH could tell I was upset and he asked what was wrong, and I had been holding it in all that time so I just choked out "I'm only on CD5, I have to wait almost a month to do anything" and he is just like, "Well don't start crying." I know he just doesn't want me to be upset but can he just not tell me how to or how not to react for once?? So I was just feeling pretty depressed/defeated for the rest of yesterday and into today. I really think I want to take this month off from trying, but I know I will regret not having a chart to refer back to. And I don't think I can just NTNP if I am charting because I will know what's going on anyway. I may change my mind once I cheer up. Again, sorry for the super long story/rant. I am so thankful to have this forum because only one person IRL knows we are trying, and she doesn't even know the whole story. Thank you to everyone who wished me good luck yesterday.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it? No theme, just lots of random ornaments I have gathered over the years, I bought some when I bought my house and tree, and I usually buy DS at least one each year.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it? Our first Christmas as semi-adults (after graduating college and getting our own apartment), we invited friends over for a party and asked us to bring ornaments for our tree, and we have collected a bunch on our own after that. We also have a lot of ornaments from husband's childhood.
  • *dumb random question I'm throwing in here so I don't start a new discussion*

    I've been lurking the 2ww threads and I've in many charts ladies having sex the entire FW -5 -4 -3 -2 - 1 O +1

    1. ) I'm wondering if in the past we have not utilized the full week ansd should have vs our timing tends to be - 2 - 1 and MAYBE O

2.) If there is history of possible sperm count issues - is it even good to do it a week straight? ?

    *TW *

When we were TTC # 1 we were told that H's count was low and he wasn't infertile but "sub-fertile" DS 2 was conceived in a more average time frame and a new Dr told us H should not have been slapped with the low sperm count diagnosis, that three analysis should be done and the average taken from them and that men have "bad months". So I don't even know if sperm is even an issue.

    TIA
  • @LakeR2014 my guess is you're temping orally?? I used to and my charts looked like yours. This cycle I temped vaginally and the difference is amazing!! Mine is attached.

FF can usually still figure it out, even if your temps vary, but sometimes the crosshairs will be dotted or the cover line will be off. It all works in averages. I also take notes almost every day so if there's anything that might affect my temp like a bad nights sleep or drinking, I have it in my notes and know which temps I can discard to help FF make up its mind.

WAYDTGKU: Just BBT and trying to get a nap.

R/R/CS: I don't have much going on today except that I'm super exhausted this morning. I just want to go back to bed. This level exhaustion is normally the kind that would make me work from home but Tuesday is the fella's only day home alone with his work schedule and I don't want to take that from him. So, off I go, dragging my ass to work. I hope no one tries to initiate conversation today...

GTKY: It's not really decorated in any particular theme. We're in small apartment this year so we went with a table top fake tree. It's not quite a Charlie Brown tree but it's pretty damn close. It has about 10 of the ornaments I've collected since we've been together; a fair balance of geeky stuff and cute stuff. I'm a little bummed this year because between our move and my parents' move, a box of our Christmas stuff has been misplaced. I'm pretty sure it's with all my parents boxes, or I'm hoping anyway. We had more ornaments and decorations in it so I hope it's not lost forever :/.

Glad to hear you got some answers @severmilli12, and more than that I'm glad to hear you have a game plan you're confident about. It sounds like you've got a great team behind you!

Sorry about your appointment @sldp123. I wouldn't know the best approach for any of that scheduling either, especially with so much conflicting advice in the world. It sounds like it's going to be a long cycle for you, waiting to head back in, so I'm sending you virtual wine.

Our tree is decorated with mostly bright colored matching ornaments, but we also have some personal ornaments that mean something to us.  My husband is half Jewish so he does not have many of his own ornaments to contribute, but over the years we have purchased some meaningful ornaments together.  He has also been purchasing an ornament for me each year we have been together, so those are super special and I enjoy opening the new ornament on Christmas!  We decorated our tree the day before Thanksgiving this year due to scheduling (we usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving).  My mom comes over to help, too!

  • @sldp123 I'm sorry you have to wait a month for testing :( I know that's frustrating. I have to wait a month as well for insurance purposes and was feeling very down and out about that all day yesterday. After talking with DH, he made me realize that I would probably be really stressed out if I was trying to get all this testing in and prepare for Christmas. I would be even more stressed if the results of my tests weren't what I wanted. DH made me realize that it's probably a good thing I'm waiting until after the holidays, so that I can relax and enjoy them and my family without worrying about testing and results. Its hard for me to do because I want answers right now and I want to start treatment right now so I can hurry up and get pregnant. I hope this is the same for you. I hope this month goes by fast and that you're able to take your mind somewhat off of everything and enjoy the holidays.

R/R/CS:  I can't believe it... but I got a positive OPK yesterday! (Or at least it was really close..hard to tell with wondfo).  First time that's happened since August.  Almost as exciting as a BFP in my world.  If I do end up ovulating today or tomorrow... does it still count as a clomid cycle?  It's obviously a VERY late O, so I don't know if I have clomid to thank or if this is just my body deciding to do it's thing.  Either way, probably best if I waited to take the Provera until I confirm that I haven't O'ed with temps.  I was just about to pick it up from the pharmacy.

  • @severmilli12 Is it the leaky appendix and subsequent infection that had you nervous or just the appendectomy itself? I had one about 12 years ago and never would have related it to fertility. It didn't rupture though.

I do remember when they rolled me in to emergency surgery and they weren't positive if it was appendicitis or something with my ovaries and they told me they were going to take out whatever was infected. I almost died. I could have woken up with no uterus and no one would have had a say about it! The glory of surgery overseas at a military hospital... Luckily, they just took my appendix. I hope.
  • @furbabymom2007 I think you should look up the "You Are Here" collection at Starbucks. They have mugs you can collect throughout your travels or your family's travels and they now have ornaments that look like mini mugs :) I have all of the mugs and just got my first round of ornaments.

WAYDTGKU: AF is almost gone I think. Not doing anything yet... Unless obsessively lurking TB (including 1st Tri and BMB) counts. Which it doesn't.

R/R/CS: I don't know how some of you ladies have made it so long in the TTC process. Of course there's a very real possibility that'll be me too, but I just feel like I'm not strong enough! I've been searching for baby names and pinning nurseries since long before we were TTC, so it feels like I've been waiting forever! I already spend so much time on TB... What's it going to be like in a few months?! Yikes I'm a little crazy!

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it? So excited we got our first real tree this year! I haven't had one since living in my parents house. It's beautiful! Our ornaments are shades or silver and gold and some are glass icicles with white lights.

@blonde1817 I feel your pain with the feeling crazy over the waiting . I don't know if it will help you but I know for sure I was crazier in cycle 3 than I was in 4 or 5. Feeling a little less-crazy still in cycle 6 but of course it's only half way so the result of my craziness this cycle remains to be seen. It is hard waiting and it's hard having BFNs at the end of each cycle but I just try to remind myself that we've had a great time being just the two of us and it can take even healthy people a long time to conceive.

@severmilli12 glad you are on track for a plan!
@sldp123 I'm sorry for your frustration and CD issues with visiting the RE.

    Waydtgku: nothing too special

R/R/CS: I started wrapping presents last night!!! So excited for Christmas!

GTKY: we have 2 Christmas trees. One in the living room with usual type ornaments (green and red and silver and glitter) and one in our sports-themed basement bar with sports themed ornaments on it. I love Christmas and I think the trees and other decorations make the house so pretty. DH keeps talking about how he can't wait til we have kids so they can really enjoy Christmas so that's nice but also a little sad. Hope we can make it happen soon!

  • @heyboohey The infection is what makes me nervous. The leakage caused an abscess which caused my intestines to be inflamed. My RE said that because the appendix is so close to the Fallopian tubes (sometimes even laying on them) that the infection could have done some damage to them. I think with any abdominal surgery there's always that slight risk that it could affect fertility but I don't think a routine appendectomy poses that much risk. I've read a lot of articles on the affects of appendicitis/appendectomy and fertility and there really isn't risk. Its the infection that I am worried about.

  • @Tippy05 I'm sorry for your loss. I know what you mean, it turns you into a head case!

@Blonde1817 I have made myself stay away from Pinterest for this reason. I feel like it will just make me crazy and get my hopes up. Try not to borrow trouble though. It may take you a while to get a BFP but it may not. My mom always tells me to try to live in the moment. Easier said than done!

@LakeR2014 I wouldn't read too much into your temps at this point as it's still pretty early in your cycle. It's more about the whole picture than it is about individual temps. Maybe try temping vaginally next cycle? I've heard that can yield more even readings.

@Severnmilli12 I'm so glad the appt went well and that you have a clear way forward. I know it seems overwhelming at first glance buy try to take it in a little bit at a time and put your energy into the best case scenario!

@sldp123 I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed and impatient. It sucks and you are allowed to feel down. FX you get answers soon!

@iceandsnowflakes29 It's not about quantity, it only takes one time. I've read that EOD is best, especially if there are sperm count issues as it gives the swimmers more time to build back up.

WAYDTGKU: Everything except CP because I can't seem to find it. I have pretty short fingers so maybe that's it?

R/R/CS: I'm pretty sure FF is going to give me CH tomorrow if my temp stays up. That would mean that today I am 2 DPO so WHY AM I STILL TURNING OPKS?! I guess the better question is, why am I still peeing on them?

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it? I'm with @ChelleCPA and @furbabymom2007, We also get an ornament from everywhere we go! It doesn't matter if it's a big trip or a weekend away, there is an ornament on our tree to commemorate the trip! We also have a black friday tradition of going to a local nursery that turns into a Christmas haven for the season. Every year we get a new ornament or two that reflects something between us for the year. Last year it was an eggplant because DH randomly started calling me his "little eggplant" (no idea why), this year he got a grill ornament because he's become increasingly obsessed with grilling and all things meat related.

I almost went back and edited my post to add this, but it was already so long. Mine was really happy I brought my charts too, she made notes on them and really took the time to look at them and thanked me for bringing them also.

WAYDTGKU: BD ED, temping, PNV, CM, ABCDEFG, ughhhhh....

R/R/CS: I am so done with BD ED, and DH is even more done. Come on, O!!! I've had EWCM for like 5 days now and no sign O with temps yet. CD 18 is my latest O date so far. We are changing to EOD until after O. We need a break.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it?
I'm also a travel ornament collector! I have a separate small tree in our kitchen for those ornaments since they don't match my living room theme.
I have an all white, silver, and light burlap tree in our living room. It matches the style of our house, since we don't really have many color accents, just light and airy and calm.

WAYDTGKU: Temping, checking CM, sex ED

R/R/CS: I told my husband that I wanted to BD every day during my FW, but when I was in the mood yesterday he wasn't. And then of course he was when I was about to go to bed. I was way too tired to actually want sex, so we had our first "strictly business" BD. Hopefully the rest of the week isn't like this.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it?
We don't have room in our apartment for a full-size tree so we have a 3ft fake tree. Same as with a PP, I got an ornament every year from my grandma for the first 18 years of my life. So I have all of those on the tree. My sisters and I all got a different theme for our ornaments - my older sister got bears, mine are all made of tin, one younger sister has wooden ornaments, and my youngest sister has angels.  We also have a bunch of "our first christmas" ornaments that people got us last year on the tree.

WAYDTGKU: CM, OPK, EOD for the next week

R/R/CS:  We got a new larger mattress and then new bed rails for the new size a while back, then about a week ago the bed has been so creaky, like even if it's just me in the bed rolling over.  It is very distracting during BD (hard for me to get the other O ;) ) and I think I'm going to put the mattress and box spring back on the floor.  We had the new mattress for awhile without the rails and it is super tall so it didn't feel like it was on the ground.  Now on the frame I have to hop to get into bed, the top of the mattress goes to my belly button.

GTKY: How is your Christmas tree decorated?... If you don't have a Christmas tree (look I'm inclusive!) what is your favorite holiday decoration tradition and how do you decorate it?

My tree is currently in the same state at @LakeR2014 ; my fake one is up and has a skirt on it but no ornaments.  We have the box of tree decorations and the box of other Xmas decorations just sitting out for like a week.  For ornaments we have a mix of random clearance store ones and some from places we have been.  My mom would not let me take any of mine because she says they were gifts to her.....
  • @furbabymom2007 I had a pukey dog last night too. It’s good she got the tennis ball back up though, foreign body removal surgery is expensive!  I love your 18 years of ornaments, that is such a great idea!]

@ChelleCPA I am having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year as well. Your woodsy ornaments sound adorable though!

@Tippy05 I love that I’m not the only one who loves all the homemade ornaments. I have all of mine from my childhood, and we have a few of DH’s.

@Slou24 I love me some big fat Christmas trees!

@iceandsnowflakes29 Wow that is a big tree! My grandparents used to do a giant tree every year before my G’pa died. I would love to have a house with tall ceilings to be able to fit  a big tree.

@blonde1817 I do the same things, I’ve had a baby pinterest for years! I honestly hope that no matter how long it takes that I never loose that feeling again. Our first time TTC I got so depressed that I completely reverted to not wanting kids at all because it was so painful. I’m trying hard this time to take it as it comes and not get too down about it. I know its not realistic, but I want to strive for it. Also, real trees are the best, I just can’t jive with fake.

@severmilli12 I’m glad your appointment went well, and that you have a plan after your testing. I love that you have two trees! We always did two growing up. We had our big fancy one, and I would always go into the woods and cut a small one and decorate it with things us kids found or made.

@sldp123 I’m sorry, waiting is the absolute worst. Hang in there.

No tree yet, not sure if I'm going to get one. I usually love decorating, but I'm just not feeling it right now.
