face feeling full and slight double chin!

Man, I am only 5 months and my face has fully filled out and im starting to see a slight double chin. I know everyone is different, and sometimes its just water retention, but how do you now feel so fat and ugly? I don't notice it that much when I look in the mirror, but I definitely notice my face in pictures looking much rounder and "fat". I have always been pretty in shape but never had a thin looking face, so I can tell that the moment I put on a few unwanted pounds my face rounds out, so now that IM pregnant I guess it makes sense my face has gotten full already.

Re: face feeling full and slight double chin!

  • I'm right there with ya! I've gained almost 25 pounds now (I'm 23 weeks) and its mostly boobs and belly, but my face has definitely plumped out too....I hate it lol! I'm not looking forward to all the holiday pictures this year, I know all I'll see is my fat face. Oh well, at least we have a good excuse. ;). And a cute squishy baby will be worth a few months of fat face and double chin!

  • Me too ladies! I've gained about 12 lbs so far, seems to be all in my belly, boobs, and face!!
  • Yep, I'm all face right now. I used to have a nice oval face... it's now round as the moon and I'm working on a mini double chin lol. Agh it's all good though, it will be all worth it soon enough!
  • Just know that it's all temporary and short-lived. I have gained a lot of weight and sometimes get really depressed over it, but I know from last time that I will lose the weight quickly once baby comes and I will get back into shape. Try not to stress, and put it in perspective... there are definitely much worse problems to have, and it's all worth it for a healthy baby :)

  • My face has gotten very pregnant in some pregnancies, and not at all with others. This time it seems to be a little fuller, but at least my nose is the same size and shape! It got really weird with ds1.
  • I've had 2 patients tell me " your face is really filling out" ... Thanks ??

Same here. Just a picture from a Christmas party we went to on Saturday night and thought dang now my face looks pregnant
    Ugh.

  • I'm feeling pretty chubby too.  But like @pinottoparenthood said, I know it's going to come off after the baby comes, so I'm trying to enjoy this time and not worry too much about weight.

  • @loveymay You have made me feel so much better. The scale has started to creep up over the past month and I have gained about 25 lbs so far and I was really worried that I still have a long way to go before the LO gets here. I'm still fitting in some of my pre-pregnancy clothes, which reassures me...even if I won't wear them out of the house. I keep reading people that are freaked out about gaining 10lbs, and it makes me feel like a weirdo that I have gained so much so far. I've always had a wider more dense frame, but really hope that I'll be able to get the weight off. I had just lost a ton of weight before getting pregnant, which I think adds to the anxiety. As everyone says, it's all temporary. And my husband has been gaining sympathy weight, so at least he understands a little too. :-) We'll be losing it together I suppose.
  • @mumistheword I"m right there with you... up 25 lbs. I am somewhat stressed about ti, but I just try to remember, again, that it's temporary and I will have the rest of my life to lose weight :D And trying to eat a little bit less.. I've started tracking my calories again, allotting myself 200 extra calories above maintenance while also listening to my body about when I need to eat. I do think I was just eating way too much.

  • @mumistheword I love that dh gains weight with me, haha... At least until he starts whining that his expensive suits don't fit and he has nothing to wear. He's... Kind of a girl like that.
  • @pinottoparenthood Thank you for letting me know that I'm not alone, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I'm trying to remind myself that it isn't permanent either, and with a little boy on the way I'm sure that he will be giving me plenty of exercise keeping up with him. ;-) I've also started trying to watch what I'm eating a little bit more too, while still making sure that everything has plenty of nutrition built in. Honestly, now that I'm starting to get so much bigger, my stomach always feels full after eating a little bit. I just want to eat all the time, I find myself hungry every two hours but I can't seem to stomach water. I've switched to seltzer, which has been helping. I think that all of the extra calories in juice, and gatorade have been really adding up.
  • @mojomama6 That's funny, my husband doesn't outwardly admit that he's unhappy with his body but he makes small comments here and there so I know it's bugging him. I think he also doesn't like that it costs him money to have to buy something that fits comfortably. He was always really skinny without trying and has finally entered the stage in life where his metabolism has slowed down. He actually said something last night about being sorry that he wasn't more understanding in the past when I have struggled with weight loss or gain. Part of it is the holiday season too, there are just so many good things to eat!

@jonesl12 People can be so rude sometimes, it's baffling. On what planet, is something like that going to do any good.

  • Oh yeah, I've gained a ton of weight in my face.  If pictures didn't tell me, my DH did in a round about way when talking about my SIL, who is due in January.  He saw her over Thanksgiving, and when I asked him how she looked, he said, "She didn't really gain any weight in her face and I thought she would..." (like me!)  Oh well.  I'll take a fat face and quicker weight gain over bad pregnancy symptoms any day.

Just take it from someone who has done this once before and spent SO much time worrying over weight.... it will all work out once baby comes, so try not to spend too much of your pregnancy stressing over it :)

  • I haven't gained weight on the scale, so when I saw a picture of me at Disney with my best friend and her mom's, I almost died. Like, when did I get so round looking??? I haven't had a mirror to show my waist since we moved into our new house... Everyone keeps telling me how great I look... I don't see it, and I don't like this look at all...

I still have to do a double take every time I walk past a mirror. I'm not a fan of this shape, but I'll take it over how miserable women start looking at about 36 weeks.
  • On the scale, I've gained about twelve and a half... I can't help but hate it for two reasons: Knowing that I fell way off the wealth wagon when I got sick and now being too busy with work, and the fact that I'm back at the weight I was in high school and I worked really hard to get rid of it :(
So I hate seeing how thick my calves are (the swelling doesn't help!) and I hate that my thighs rub together again (I had to work really hard to get rid of that, I have Italian thighs as it is xD), and I *hate* my arms..... But I look at my belly bump, and it all just kind of fades into the background. If I could learn to love my body the way it was in high school, then I can love it now, especially my ever-growing, never-fitting-into-anything makes-me-look-like-an-egg in a dress belly, because there's something special growing inside. <3
