Websites to buy baby clothes

Hey mommies, I wanted to know if any of you could suggest websites to buy cute affordable baby girl clothes from. We don't have a Babies R Us where I live or anything, just Walmart and Target, and another place you practically have to be rich to afford their baby clothes. Help.

Re: Websites to buy baby clothes

  • Gap baby, carters has a website. Pretty much anyting can be bought on line

  • Loading the player...
  • Also to add... Almost everywhere sells baby clothes. Macy's and kohls are just about everywhere.

  • I agree with @yogahh. Those stores have great sales. Children's Place is another good one. There are usually child consignment stores too if you don't mind buying gently used; Once Upon a Child is great for this if you have one nearby.
  • My stepsister has a serious clothes shopping addiction with Carters so I'm already experienced with that. They can have some pretty good sales if you catch it at the right time and the clothes are adorable. I also second The Children's Place and any consignment stores near you if there are any.

If you're looking to buy for yourself though and you know you're having a shower I would hold off unless you see anything you really really want. All of my family has pretty much said they can't wait to buy cute baby clothes and everyone I know typically gets a mountain of them so I'm waiting to see what I get so I don't end up with too many extras.
  • Old Navy and Kohls online are great for baby clothes! They both have cheep prices to begin with and will randomly have 25 or 30 percent off sales or other promotions you can look out for. I think they both have free shipping over 50$. So you can get a bunch of cute stuff for a great deal
  • Watch Carter's around the holidays.  I just got a ton of stuff - they had 50-60% off their entire site, plus i found another code online for an additional 20% off, and free shipping.  I think I got like $300 worth of clothes for just over $100.

  • Great finds at thrift stores.

  • Baby Gap. I buy almost all of DDs clothes there, they are always offering 40% off.

  • Sign up for carters and osh kosh emails. Every couple months they do a 60% off almost everything sale and they email additional coupons. They will also put their clearance stuff really cheap and have additional sales on top of the clearance prices. We have a carters and an osh kosh in town so every time the season changes I wait for them to have a sale and go buy all of DD's wardrobe at the same time. I think the last trip I made I spent $200 and got over $600 worth of clothes! But you can definitely order from them online too.

Kohls does sell carters stuff and it's usually on sale, but if you can shop carters during their huge sales you can get way better deals on their stuff!
  • Also what @dsmith211 said. I got so many newborn/0-3 month clothes from family and friends and I also got a ton of hand me downs that I ended up with more clothes than DD could ever wear. When they get a little bigger it's not as exciting for people to buy them clothes ;)
  • I recently had a conversation with my husband regarding his comfort level buying used baby clothes. General consensus is thumbs up on the idea but he is worried about bodily fluids from prior use. Are there any best practices to clean them like washing a couple time? using a special disinfectant? ... any specific instructions for cleaning used baby clothes?

Just wash them. 95% of my clothes and more so of DD's are used. Most nicer places (consignment store, higher end thrift, etc.) won't take stained clothes so no worries there. All I ever do is run clothes through a wash and dry once.

  • Kohls online, especially when you have the 30% off coupon and free shipping!
  • I'm obsessed with zulily at the moment for all things baby and maternity. Free shipping on the rest of your orders after your first order of that same day!

Have you researched much on Zulily? I was going to buy a few things that seamed like an awesome deal but then I found a few of the exact items were cheaper at Kolhs (without a coupon)!  I read a few other reviews that said that Zulily sometimes lists a high original price to make the sale look like a steal. Some of the items were cheaper on Zulily, but others not so I felt like I would have to do a lot of research to see if I'm getting a deal & I got scared off!

Yep! I haven't bought anything over $20. But anything under $20, I would deem a pretty good deal for maternity and baby clothes.

I have yet to buy any big items ($100 or more) from them because I look at the reviews first via Google. For example, I'm looking at a diaper tote for $99 and searched to see the reviews. Zulily is the cheapest by $30, compared to Nordstrom or Amazon.
  • One thing to consider (and I only say this because my sister just had a baby about a month ago, and this is what I observed) is that, regardless of whether or not you have a shower, people are probably going to buy clothes for the baby.  Most grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers, etc. brought a small, inexpensive gift (often an item of clothing) to the hospital/her house when they visited the baby.  This is probably because they're so cute and usually pretty inexpensive compared to other baby items.  At least, this was my sister's experience.  So, you may want to consider waiting until after your shower (if you're having one) or even after the baby is born to start buying a lot of clothes.  My new niece is 4 weeks old, and she already has so many clothes in her closet that she probably won't have enough time to wear all the outfits before she outgrows them!  Just a suggestion.

I remember getting quite a few newborn clothes.  It worked well for me to exchange them for 6mo, 12mo, etc. Baby clothes are so cute!
