I had my blood drawn today to check my levels. According to the nurse this was a one time thing. I thought I would need to go back on Wednesday to make sure the levels have gone up like they are supposed to. An I wrong? What does a one time blood draw tell you?
Re: HCG levels
I think it depends on how far along you are and what type of doctor you're seeing. Some just have different preferences. I'm seeing an RE until I "graduate" to my OB. My RE is doing 3 draws. But we also did the first draw at 3w5d...verrryyyyyy early.
I'm sure you could request a second draw if it would make you feel more comfortable - especially if your 1st ultrasound is not for awhile. I was a nervous wreck between my two draws and still have a third one to go but I did calm down a bit after the second.

12/18/15: 6week Ultrasound - ONE STICKY LITTLE NUGLET!!!
Who ordered the blood draw/why is it being done?
I only have 1 tube and ovary so they monitor my hcg until it's to 2,000 then I go in for an ultrasound to make sure it's not ectopic again.
By the way, I am 4w 5d.
With dd1 I had a blood test to confirm pregnancy and make sure that my hcg value was within range.
My guess is that if it is lower than it should be for how far along you think you are, they will repeat in 48 hours.
