Do Food Aversions Go Away??

I'm 7 weeks with baby #1, and cannot stomach the thought of consuming coffee, oatmeal, or greek yogurt, all of which were major staples in my pre-pregnancy breakfast routine! For those of you who have experienced aversions, do they go away during/after pregnancy, or are there still things you can't stand even post-pregnancy??

Re: Do Food Aversions Go Away??

  • Mine went away around 16/17 weeks, right about the time I also stopped wanting to vomit every few minutes :)

  • I think it's different for everyone. My food aversions have not gone away and I'm at 25weeks. I used to love Greek yogurt but I couldn't even look at it during the first tri. Morning sickness has been gone for a while now and I can tolerate a spoonful every now and then but still don't like it for the most part. I have a friend who used to love bacon. She started having an aversion to it during pregnancy. 10years later and she still can't stand bacon.

  • i think for everyone it is different. no two pregnancies are the same. i know a few women who couldn't stomach meat while pregnant. after pregnancy some went right back to loving it, some still couldn't stand it.
  • Mine haven't. Some have lingered after my first pregnancy as well. Some come and go. For the most part, though, if I don't like/want it at first, I won't later on.

  • Mine did not go away until after DS was born. It varies from person to person.

  • Everyone & every pregnancy is definitely different. I'm 19+3 and still can't stomach chocolate or coffee but my aversion to tomatoes has totally reversed and I'm loving them.
  • Mine changed throughout my.first pregnancy. At the beginning I was eating a lot of chicken, then for awhile incouldbt even stand the smell.

  • I'm at FTM so I don't know about after pregnancy but when I was early on I had the worse aversion to water. It was absolutely terrible because how can you not drink water??

I survived off Gatorade and chocolate milk until about 15 weeks and now I'm fine drinking water again. I haven't wanted Gatorade since around 15 weeks, but chocolate milk is definitely still a staple.

Same here except for me it's diluted ginger ale and/or lemonade with honey. My poor teeth and spreading a$$!
  • My major aversions started to ease around 9 weeks and I was able to not be nauseated by absolutely everything I saw and smelled. 2 weeks later there are still some things that I see that aren't the remotest bit appetizing but my food options have significantly expanded as my MS begins to fade. I'm a FTM so no word on post-pregnancy.
