The girl that cried labor

I woke up having frequent painful contractions this morning. I had only been up for forty minutes but I'm a nurse and I didn't want to wait too long to call off so I called off. Well turns out I just needed to have a bowel movement no more contractions. I guess just feeling annoyed and wanted to vent. Also feel like a jerk for calling off. This is baby 3 you would think I would know the real deal!

  • Nothing to be embarrassed about! I think they'd rather you were too cautious than not at all!
They're doing their jobs and I'm sure they hear these things every day :)

  • I totally know how you feel- I called my OB last week because I was convinced my water broke- I mean I had to change scrubs so something happened. I got over to L&D and they checked me, apparently I had "plenty" of fluid and there is no way it broke. The nurse over there was super sweet but I felt SO dumb. The nurse proceeded to ask me if I thought it was pee or if I had sex that morning and it could be something else... #firsttimemomproblems I may be a nurse but I don't know squat about L&D!
  • Oh that sucks. I was debating if I was leaking fluid a few days ago. I concluded it was urine but if I had to change my scrubs I would have assumed my water broke.

  • Ugh. Yes!!! I thought for sure I was having early contractions on Saturday evening!! But, they didn't progress. Darn!
  • I've been up for a few hours thinking maybe this was it..... Nope lol

I don't want to go in too early but also don't want to be that nurse that delivers in the hall because I waited too long lol looking for some middle ground here.

  • I had a similar experience this morning. I woke up having mild contractions and I was afraid they would progress. I took a half day and figured if baby came I could make it a full day. Contractions died off, so I'm heading to work :( I work 45 minutes from the hospital so I'm terrified I'll go into labor and have to drive myself!
  • I know that feeling. The past week has been this way for me! I'm only at 38 weeks today, but there were times where I though something was happening, just because I had horrible pressure, the sharp pains in my legs, lower back, and hips and tightening of muscles. But I ended up having to poop as well! Lol! It just happens.
  • Haha same here. I was having what I thought were real contractions the other day but after I had a bowel movement, I realized it was just Braxton hicks.
  • I thought labor had started 24 hours before it actually started. I was using my contraction counter and realized that they were irregular and not progressing. It was really emotionally taxing. The next night, I started to have more contractions and began keeping track of them. Eventually I realized that it was really happen that night and called the doctor on call. I was sure when I got to the hospital that they would send me home since I was no longer feeling pain nor the contractions.
  • I'm the kind of person that downplays things like symptoms. I didn't even want to tell DH this morning when I was having period like cramps. I told him, but I told him not to get his hopes up because they were irregular/kind of constant. I think I'm probably giving myself these symptoms because I've been kind of paranoid about being induced... so, now that I'm convincing myself that I'm making up symptoms the cramps are even more irregular. Gah!
  • Hey ladies I had my little girl on the 2nd and I will say I didn't feel like I needed to poop I felt something but it wasn't poop more like a bowling ball sitting on my vagina and pelvis -- hang in there mommies your little ones will be here before you know it! And pooping will be the last thing you want to do!! All I can say is colace and milk of mag have been lifesavers!

Umm yeah I do the same. I'm still having lots of false labor/early labor that ends who knows why. I don't like to say something bevause it keeps happening and I don't want to get everyone excited for nothing. This happened with my son. I ended up with a very easy labor untill transition so I'm hopeful all of this will help but man its such a mind game. I was sure I was in early labor this morning and nope, ended after a few hours. My obygn knows my history and encouraged me to come get checked anytime I think I could be in labor but that would really drive me nuts. He is afraid I'll wait to long to come in.

  • Yeah that was me this morning. To many back to back with a 3-4 hour period. No vaginal pressure (didn't feel it either with DD1) but it was my entire stomach and back. Now I'm so sore as if I went through an entire ab workout. Lord help me I'm ready for this to be over and to hold my baby girl in my arms!!
