3rd Trimester

Oh for the love of Nesting

So I've heard that this nesting thing gets pretty intense for some and not so for others....
I wanna know your extreme nesting stories!!
I'm hitting 30 weeks Sunday and I'm more than ready for it to kick in cuz my house needs a deep clean!!!
Let's have some dirty clean fun on this board :P

  • Some days are better than others but basically I have to make myself clean. I was hoping I would want to nest like crazy but it's not happening. We don't even have the nursery ready yet at 34 weeks.
  • Last weekend I majorly nested. The next two days I was too exhausted to do much else. I need to pack the hospital bag but I've lost all motivation.
  • what the heck is nesting..? like.. cleaning your house? getting ready for baby?
  • @kyraaD its throughly cleaning the house from end to end
  • No nesting for me at almost 35 weeks. I typically loathe cleaning, and don't anticipate that changing in the next month. I'll probably force myself to clean up my/baby's room and do laundry tomorrow though (out of pure necessity); things are getting a little out of hand around here!

Getting things in order for the baby, perfecting their "nest." Last time mine involved a lot of sewing and decorating, in addition to cleaning.

I'm 30 weeks and just starting to get some nesting urges. Thank goodness because my house is in dire need of some attention!

  • Mine has been sporadic but it helped that we moved into a new house in October so I got rid of all the junk before we got here! I did already pack the hospital bag and I'm 31 weeks lol!
Her nursery is ready too except for a few things I want to hang on the walls. For about 2 weeks all I did was clean every day. It was spotless. Now I'm tired a lot so it isn't happening as much even though my insides are screaming "CLEAN!" I just can't do it. But I think it will really kick in again here shortly because I hate the idea of coming home from the hospital and not having everything they way I want it so we can just relax
  • Mine has also been sporadic but at the same time intense. I'm on bed rest now and all I can do is think of all the things I can/ should be doing and look up tips on Pinterest for organizing. Lol. I just want to make things simple!!
  • I have 2 teens, a dh & 5-yr old living in my house. Cleaning in both futile & necessary. For my nesting I just focused on the nursery, washing/hanging baby clothes, organizing my hospital bags & filling my freezer. Also obsessing over who will be available to help once this baby is here!
  • The term " nesting " is a new one for me. If it means cleaning and organizing I have been "nesting" for years. I can't handle clutter
  • @jonesl12 it's more of a fanatical type of cleaning when done in its truest sense.... We've all been cleaning forever. It's just when you're going through your entire house like a bat shit crazy woman. Qtips to dust the baseboards and such. I fear my co workers when this kicks in for me because that restaurant is going to be spotless lol

    Ah ok got ya.

  • My nesting has only taken the form of throwing out useless junk that we never use anymore. But actually cleaning??? No way!
  • I think I'm nesting today : ) but I have been known to get pissed off at cluter and go nuts in the past. I'm making myself take a break so I have energy to decorate the tree later. I love a good nesting spurt but I'm a clean freak living with two kids and a messy DH so I give into the mess alot.

  • I've been too tired to even try! Now, my hubby on the other hand, has been going through that phase for the past couple of weeks! I'm at 38 weeks today, and all I want to do is eat and sleep. Lol! I haven't even got the motivation to pack a hospital bag for my LO, even though I have most of the baby blankets and clothes finallh washed. And today I did some cleaning. But I just can't make myself clean every day.
  • With my first DD it didn't happen until right around 37ish weeks but with this one it hit at like 15 and hasn't stopped!!! I can't stand clutter so I've organized EVERYTHING....I could have a few yard sales at this point lol

DH loves it because the house is constantly spotless and not my normal version of clean that involves "over looking" the toys in the floor!

  • We're staying with my in-laws until DH finishes our fixer upper (hopefully before March gets here). I will nest so much when we move from pregnancy hormones, finally having our own space, and figuring out what all we still own after our 3ish moves in 2.5 years.

When I was 40+ wks pregnant with DS, I magic erased our guest tub/shower (which I hadn't ever cleaned since moving in) in between Sunday church services. I was induced the following night and had DS on Tuesday evening.
  • I'm nesting like crazy..;) I started at the top level of the house (working my way down the coming couple of weeks)..cleaning the storage...throwing a lot out (i usually have more problems to throw things away, always thinking "maybe i need or use it somewhere this year")..even dusting there. When i get home from work, i even look forward to clean and make room...Even though my husband calls me a (little) bit crazy he also sees the convenience of it...;)
  • I never had it too much ahead of time but I did BIG time a few hours before my water broke with DS. I started deep cleaning the house at bedtime and my water broke at 3am.

  • Last week I was vacuuming with one hand and cooking with the other.  I got made fun of!
