2nd Trimester

Carpel tunnel

19 weeks 2 days had cortisone shot in both wrists for carpel tunnel. How much pain did you experience? Can pain affect baby?

If pain could seriously affect baby then birthing babies wouldn't be a thing. A shot in your wrists shouldn't cause you enough pain to hurt more than your wrists if that.
ETA- you said "had" as in, you already received the shots? Are you in pain? If the pain is bad enough for this question I'd call the doctor who gave you the shots and find out if it's normal.

  • I've never had this but I seriously doubt you would be given anything by your doctor that would harm the baby.
Pain doesn't transfer from mother to child, if I have a headache or stub my toe it doesn't also mean the baby experiences the same thing.

Omg it was so bad in the last 6ish weeks of pregnancy with my daughter. Knock on wood, I haven't gotten it this time.

Eta.... Pain? No. I would imagine if your pain was causing your stress, that could make for a difficult pregnancy, but your pain dosesn't affect your inside baby, that is an individual human being you are growing, they have their own pain receptors.

  • I've had carpal tunnel during my first and this pregnancy. I had it postpartum with my second. It's the worst but it doesn't affect your baby. The shots didn't last that long the one time I had them. This time I'm considering acupuncture if it gets really bad.
