Swings: Mamaroo vs Graco Sweetpeace

Dear Mamas,
My baby is 7 weeks old and has reflux. I am looking for a swing to put him in to gef somethings done around (like pimping)
I found mamaroo.and the Graco sweetpeace.
Mamaroo looks funky and small and seems.to.have interresting movements, but they say it's too slow.
Graco seems to be practical but space occupying and its cradling moves are not as natural...
Any experience/advice?

I don't have that specific Graco one, but I did start out with the MamaRoo and my child (who is just miserable in general) hated it. I just sold it last week and bought a regular Graco swing that goes in 3 different directions. This is the *ONLY* thing she'll go in for like 10 minutes without crying. I've bought everything. And she also has reflux.

Eta: our new one is actually fisher price not graco! Oops

  • I work in L&D and the nursery at my hospital. We have 2 mamaroos for the babies to use when they are in the nursery They all love it. There are probably 5 speeds so it can get going relatively quick, and lots of different motions like you said. They're pretty neat. Don't know about the Graco swing you're asking about though.
  • I have the mamaroo and its alright. My LO is a pretty content baby so she's happy to be in whatever for the most part. But if she was fussing or upset I doubt the mamaroo would do much to calm her, it is on the slow side and she prefers fast movements to calm her down. I don't regret the purchase but if she was fussier I probably would. The different movements are nice, it's super light, love that it plugs into the wall (no batteries), and that I can play music from my phone on it. If it makes a difference, I have the 2014 model not the 2015, I know there are some minor differences between the two!
  • Also, I was in Babies R Us the other day and saw the Fisher Price 4-in-1 Smart Connect Cradle 'n Swing 2.0 and really wish I would have gotten that. Its cheaper that the current Mamaroos and you can turn it both directions to swing baby front to back or side to side and that thing is FAST. I know it would knock my LO right out, or at least keep her content! Maybe bring your LO to Babies R Us and try out the different floor samples to see what he likes, I wish I would have done that before buying!

  • We have the cradle and swing and our daughter loves it! She can go in fully awake, sometimes she'll fall asleep in it, and always wakes up happy. Definitely helps me get things done around the house! I have friends who have bought the mama roo and regretted it and their kids seem much happier in the cradle and swing.
  • We have the Graco DuetSoothe swing and our LO loves it. She hated her Ingenuity Swing to Seat we had originally
  • Mamaroo is too low for what? We have one and my boy loves it. It has 5 different moves with 3 speeds and a few sounds like fan and ocean. You can also connect your own music.
  • We had the mamaroo also and lo hated it he would sit in it for maybe 30 min at most. We just bought the fisher price cradle and swing and he loves it! It has 6 different speeds with music and he can sleep in it for 2+ hours it's great!
  • The fisher price my little snugapuppy cradle and swing is on sale right now on Amazon for 99$ originally 159 definitely worth it. Also if you have prime you will get in within 2 days
  • My son won't sit in the mamaroo. We tried all the speeds, connecting our music etc. But that might be more of a function his wanting to be held all the time. I am bummed because it really is cool to look at (and it's pricy!). Wish they made it in adult size :)

  • We had the graci swing first and then bought the mamaroo. Our baby loves her mamaroo and I finally get to put her down. I've actually been able to clean the house and go outside and tan for the first time in 9 weeks.
  • We have a mamaroo and fisher price snugapuppy cradle and swing. Baby goes back and forth between the 2.right now he hates the swing and loves the mamaroo. Just last week he hated the mamaroo. I was able to get the mamaroo second hand for $60 and would not have gotten it full price. It is slow even at the highest speed. You might want to look into Craigslist or one of those stores that sells 2nd hand baby stuff. since so many babies dislike it, I'm sure there are plenty of mamas looking to get rid of theirs.

The swing is nice bc it's fast and has the different positions. My LO actually prefers the cradle motion over the traditional swing. It does take up a lot of space.

Both plug in which is nice. If I had to pick one I'd pick the swing but I'm so glad I have both since my LO gets tired of repetition and likes variety.
  • We have both and both of my kids much prefer the swing. They settle and sleep in the swing if upset as well as "play" awake in it. I would not recommend the MamaRoo. I got caught up in the looks of the MamaRoo and at 8 weeks got hand me down swing with my first and it changed my life. Same with this baby.
