Hi! I would love to see what anyone on here has to say about their experiences crossfitting while pregnant! I plan on continuing as long as I can, but I am actually more nervous about the first trimester workouts! Has anyone started scaling?!
I don't do cross fit but something similar called RIPPED. with my son I continued with my regular exercises until 37 weeks. and even then I could have continued I was just tired.
I say go for it. you'll have to start modifying at some point, but that's fine. It's so so healthy and beneficial for you and baby to continue exercising during pregnancy.
I have been doing crossfit for over a year and a half before getting pregnant. I had always planned on continuing, but am EXTREMELY nervous!! But I was told by my dr yesterday she didn't want me to crossfit, nor lift more than 15lb.... no clear reason why. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do to keep moving.
@ashtonvdevin you aren't high risk or have any reason to be limited? Not lifting more than 15lbs would be impossible for me. Ds weighs about 30lbs and I pick him up and carry him around all day. When I was pregnant with him I worked at a daycare and lifted/carried kids all day long.
I've done CrossFit for 4 years and I don't plan to stop until I have to. I've never heard the 15 lbs thing-- I have heard not to lift more than 45 lbs but that's between you and your doctor.
My CrossFit coach's wife had a kid a few months ago and he coached her up until at least 36 weeks. So he knows the modifications and everything. I will probably tell him soon, and maybe just lay low the next few weeks. I'll fake a cold or something and just scale down to whatever I feel comfortable with. I'll just need to listen to my body.
I know a lot of women that continued doing CrossFit throughout their entire pregnancy. They did scale, but not a ton. Being high-risk, I was told not to do CrossFit. I'm pretty bummed because it's been my only form of exercise for several years now. I don't know what else to do!
Nope, not high risk.... I find the 15lb this a little excessive. My first appointment is the 15th. I'm going to talk with her again. Even though I think 15lb is crazy, it puts even more worry in the back of my head.
@ashtonvdevin when I was trying to get pregnant with my son we went through IUI's and IVF and my RE repeatedly told me not to stop exercising and to just listen to my body.

I am excited for a reason not to do burpees!
