GD mamas postpartum check in

Have you had your postpartum blood draw? They did mine at 6 weeks and my A1C was actually lower than pre pregnancy.

I'd been eating a lot of sweets while home with the baby (everyone was bringing us goodies). Plus I was probably making up for lost time. I was worried I would still have diabetes as it happens sometimes.

What about you?

Re: GD mamas postpartum check in

  • They checked my sugars twice while I was in the hospital and both times were under 80. Then my doc said we didn't need to check them any more. They didn't even check at my 2 week so I'm guessing they aren't concerned. I go for my 7 week appointment on Monday maybe they will then. But I was such a mild case they weren't overly concerned during pregnancy. My highest number ever was 180 and I had a lot of ice cream.

  • They didn't check mine at all in the hospital, only when I was in labor after they let me eat something. I checked it myself 1 week pp after a pizza/sweets binge and it was 77. My worries went away after that.
  • I had to do a 2 hour glucose test at 7 weeks. It was normal....yeah!!!
